You definately got a good deal. A standard room with a discount goes for $139 a night plus 12% tax.

I am in the same situation and have been moved, but for a much higher price. I was wondering if you could call them and ask them which discount code they booked this with. I was paying $94/night with my original reservation and now the savannah room at the Animal Kingdom Lodge is going to cost around $127/night. I would love to save even more. Let me know what code they moved you with. I know mine was the AEA code. I originally had a Disney club rate under the code ZXEE, but they said this would be higher than the other one.

I really appreciate your help on this!!!

Kevin,

With the current discount code that is out, the Savannah view room with the discount is $215 plus 12% tax. You recieved a wonderful deal on your room. The other price must be for a standard room at the AKL.

Pam,

Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining about the price, but I sure would like to pay less. I was told that no standard view rooms were available under the upgrade rates. I was assuming he must also have the savannah rooms under his deal. I would always like to save more money. I agree that getting a room that normally goes for $315/night for only $127 is a great deal.

On a side note, have you ever had any experience getting a room with a King bed and daybead at the AKL. We have a room with 2 queen beds set aside and were told that the others rooms are not reservable. In our situation with 4 of us going this time (Myself, Wife, Son 22 months, Brother-in-law 9), it would be much easier if we had one big bed and a day bed for sleeping arrangements. We figure myself, wife and son can sleep in the King Bed (we have to do this quite regularly as it is at home) and my wife's brother can have the daybed to himself. Otherwise he will have to sleep with his sister or me and that may be a bit uncomfortable for him.

Thanks for the help!!

Dizneykev

BTW - We will be there on May 4-14 maybe we will see you around. It would be nice to put a face with the name.

Hi Kev,

I didn't think you were complaining. I don't think that a code was used on the AKL rooms. What happens with something like this is called an "UPSELL". Disney will offer a deluxe at a reduced rate if there are no available rooms left at a moderate or in this case they may have done it because they closed POFQ. I think you should call them again and question them on the price difference. Perhaps they will reduce it more. It's worth a try.

I'm staying at POR from the 1-5th. I will be at Epcot the night of the 4th and the MK on the 5th.

sorry- kind of off-topic, but PAM:

you obviously seem to know a whole lot price-wise and etc. and i just have a question for you; we were looking into a place to stay for this easter weekend, and we looked into some of our usual favorites such as beach club, and etc.
-well, you see, we wanted something a little larger than your average room so we were looking into connecting rooms, a suite, or even trying the villas. so after doing some looking around, and looking into some of the prices, so we discovered that 2 stabdard connecting rooms would go for about $400 (coming out to 800 a night), we then somehow stumbled upon a 2 bedroom suite at the boardwalk for like $620 a night! -its 2 stories, and a kitchen, and wow i was blown away because it seemed like such a great deal in comparison to regular room's prices.
-so my question is, have you ever heard of such 'suites' and these kinds of seemingly good rates, and are there similar types of deals around the wdw resort?? -thanks alot!

Hi Kevin,

The suites start at around $565 per night plus 12% tax. What type of view do you have and does your price include tax? Please keep in mind that this is a "Peak" price for that room. If it was a value season it would be cheaper. When you compare the price of two rooms to this, yes it is much cheaper. I do believe what they have given you is a Cottage Suite. The 14 Garden Suites are two-stories cottages, most with a private yard and a rose garden. The bedroom, located on the second floor, has a king sized bed. There is a Jacuzzi tub with a mini-TV in the bathroom. Downstairs, in the living room is a queen sofa bed.

I hope this helps.

I don't think I would call them back and try for a lower rate. They might give you the $116 rate but stick you in a standard room. Pay the $11 extra per night and stay with the Savanna View room.

As for the King bed, everone can correct me if I'm wrong ( I know you will  ) but I believe most of the Kings are in the disability rooms and thus are not released prior to that day. Notice I did not say all Kings:D

Actually I got a standard room for 104 per night plus tax. I was never even offered a Savannah room. We don't care that much about a Savannah room but is this a good rate for a standard?

Thanks, Terry

May31- June 7 can't wait!!!!
