Reflections of Earth continuing upgrades

They do still have a lot of mirrors both on the islands and also on certain buildings. The island mirrors look set to be removed in the near future for something new.

It was 1984s Laserphonic Fantasy that had the laser barge up to and including I98, though it was improved in 1988. Yes, SSE still has the spinning globe projection and corporate name post show.
Martin... What your saying is good and all but it already seems to good to be true. The new lasers but replacing the mirrors and spending the money to replace them with new effects seems to unrealistic. The most I can see them doing is getting mirrors that change position or replacing some cracked ones but your getting to unrealistic here. We all know the show isn't far gone enough yet for them to be making updates.
Although I can see them "temporarily" bringing back the original Illuminations for 9 weeks then rusting out the earth barge do to poor storage just like Spectromagic then leaving us with the original Illuminations.

You'll be surprised. I was. It took three years of pushing for the budget by an enthusiastic and thankfully persistent team to make it happen.

All hardware is on site. The upgrades are happening as we speak. Infrastructure is being installed right now to replace the mirrors. Look for concrete pads on the islands.

Yeah give me those updated illuminations shows over roe's artsy drawn out stuff

I love RoE, though I'd be interested to see what an updated version of the original IllumiNations might be like.

Though comparing it directly to the old IllumiNations I think many people forget that the first piece of pyro didn't enter the show until about 9 minutes in. Up until that it was strictly lasers, fountains and lights. With how much people complain about the under-4-minute pyro-free Earth Globe movement, I don't see modern audiences enjoying *no* fireworks for 10 minutes... Laser shows were new and cool in the 80's. Not so much nowadays.

Understood... but my beef isn't that there isn't pryo during the LED globe sequence... but that it's god awful boring period. I don't need pyro (see World of Color..) but you gotta be interesting. The LED globe seems like an interlude that just drags on and on. It's telling a story that honestly makes no connection at all to me.

What's replacing the mirrors... New mirrors or lasers because if they are lasers they are going to be visible at all times. Will there be more effects for order and possibly water images?

Looks like it really was pouring in a couple of those shots... appreciate all of your work to get the shot!
This wasn't filmed between Sept 16 and 20th was it? Can't remember which night it poured. I was standing under a tree on the bridge between France and IG trying to stay dry!

The wet one was Monday September 22, though it was also rather damp on the 19th.
