You know... if they mount a camera on one side and then show that image on the other... it will then become invisible!!

You know, I wouldn't be surprised if they start putting images on the LED boards to try to do something to make these things look nicer (Christmas garlands/snowflakes for the holidays, flowers during F&G, "Don't drink and drive" during F&W, etc.). Would that essentially turn these into floating billboards? Yes. But I'm not sure that's any worse than trying to pretend these floating black buildings don't exist. Even the in-jest suggestion by @junglecruise93 to put wait times up might be an improvement.

Daytime fountains are going to do next to nothing to hide these. Plus, Disney's track record with keeping fountains working ain't exactly stellar, and we expect(?) these to run 10-12 hours a day, continuously, without issue? It's a maintenance nightmare in the making and I give it a year before half the jets are broken and/or the daytime show is cut back or discontinued.

Is there any chance that, with enough backlash, they change plans and revert to moving the show barges backstage during the day? I know it's a pain, but is it doable?

Doable? Of course, but I think it would be more hassle than it's worth for them. I doubt they will take any of the backlash into consideration at this point.

On 1 hand I don't get all the negatively, we knew this was coming, we're seen how big this show is backstage from biocon., marni1971 even coughed yesterday! I'm fine with it.

On the other hand, there were pictures of the WSL bridge and the barge moving into WSL last night, so why couldn't Epcot do that every afternoon?

I would understand if the stargate is harder to move around.

Anyone know when the 2nd & main barge moves out?

The other “Tacos” didn’t seem to far off in construction from the now completed one in the lagoon 🤷‍♂️. Don’t know about the Stargate lol.

I can’t lol between Tacos with erect arms coming up from inside and the Stargate 😂

So...just because something is out we should accept it even though it was known from the beginning it was a bad move? It's a crap look that should've been better. Sure it's here to say but to say we have to like it isn't right.

WDI should've known if they proposed two options, the cheaper route would've been taken. Options being a permanent docked setup and the other one involving a small team moving barges onstage.

Does anyone know if the bottom portion will be submerged?

(It looks unfinished and the doors look watertight so I’m guessing yes but can’t find an answer, it would also explain why they will be permanent rather than moved daily.)

If they can lower it to the catwalk height I don’t think it’ll look that bad, if this is the final height it looks horrible.

I brought that up a few pages ago. They can't go lower. Look at the dock point, it's resting on top of it:

They are watertight and they may also function like a bunker (as the earth globe did).

Edit: The only possibility is if there's an opening in the walkway that'll allow the mount point to fit in, kind of like a puzzle piece. But it doesn't look like it:

Right next to the stargate thing is where the opening would need to be but it doesn't look big enough. Credit to Bio.

I didn’t even notice they were on top of the docking point, I thought (hoped) that was part of the barge and would be submerged.

Now the optimist in me is left hoping it'll look better in person with the fountains, telephoto zooms have a way of distorting scale and space. In your zoomed out picture a few pages ago it’s not nearly as bad as the zoomed in photos.

Accurate rendering by me.

Water can't cover up black floating swoopy looking things.

“Oh look, they put a huge poop emoji on top of Spaceship Earth. That’s terrible!”

“Can’t do anything about it now, may as well accept it!”

Disney can do better. Just because some think less-than-good-enough is acceptable (and the general public has been conditioned to accept less and less and pay more for it, because “It’s Disney!!!”) doesn’t mean it actually is. To me, this shows management has completely jumped the shark and no longer cares about show, only dough. (Yes, I realize this is a bit over-the-top. But no more so than what will be anchored in WSL going forward)
