Maybe I would actually buy more if they had those resort mugs back...:brick:They are like 20 or 16 oz. They had a choice before of those and slightly larger ones.

I do not know the official reason but in my eyes it is kind of like the Goldilocks and the three bears story. The deluxe plan has to have it because it is the deluxe plan and should include everything, the quick service plan is a little light and it needs it to add perceived value, the basic plan on the other hand is just right.I have never noticed that. So if I get the middle plan, I get screwed out of a mug. what bean counter thought of that one?
We used our mug for our beverages with breakfast or any other meal we had at the resort. We then had a runner (one of the teens) return them to the room. This enabled us to take the bottled beverage that came with the meals into the park. It was one less drink we had to purchase. :sohappy:

It makes perfect sense. The price that the QS plan needs to sell at it right what you would be paying for the menu items out of pocket give or take a few bucks. If you can pay out of pocket for the same thing for roughly the same price what is the incentive to buy? The addition of a cup that has a perceived cost $14 with an actual cost of maybe $2 total including soda is that incentive.I see where you are going with that, it just doesn't make sense that if someone spends a few bucks less, they get a souvenir or if they spend a little more.

The baisc plan on the other hand is very easy to consider a good deal when several of the restaurants have dinner, drink and desert combinations that almost add up to the daily cost of the plan. Because of this Disney has no need for an additional incentive. If people stop buying the basic plan it is an easy ace in the hole they can pull out.
It has been nearly a decade since I have purchased one. I too spend too little time at the resort make it any value.I probably won't get one... I was under the impression this also worked inside the parks. I don't plan on spending all that much time at my resort... unless I can get a soda 24/7 which may be nice at 2AM when I am unwinding from a full day
