refill mugs and popcorn buckets

We always grab the refillable mugs and always use them to get more worth than what we pay. We’ve done the popcorn buckets occasionally, just because popcorn increases the thirst in the parks.
As long as you use them it’s a great deal for guests. A couple of features that Disney hasn’t yet made a profit off of me for what I get for my money.

It can definitely be worth while for some. It all comes down to what you like and how you tour.

First I don't like popcorn so that would be a no go for me but also I would hate to lug it around.

When you got the mug with the dining plan it was worth it because it was included in what I was already paying for. ]
However I also don't like carrying it all day.
So we only used them if we ate at the resort, hanging out at the resort, or if we were not too exhausted after the parks and would retrieve them from our room.

We never carry our mugs around. You can’t get free refills with them in the parks so there’s no reason to bring them with you into the parks. We use them at breakfast , then return them to the room, wash them out so they are ready for the next use when the day is over. Then pick up our park backpacks and essentials. Even if they were to be put into a backpack, they don’t take up that much space.

I fully understand you cannot get refills in the parks.
To me though going to the food court then back to the room and then to the parks and then to the room then the food court then back to the room it's a lot when you have already walked 12 miles without all that.
And we take small crossbody bags into the parks.
Like I said it's totally worth it depending on your touring style.
But for us the only reason we got them was because they came with the dining plan.
And since the dining plan has been gone I've now realized that when it comes back we may decide to not get it.

do you think it would work out if say they raised the price to 30.00 but allowed you to use them in the parks? free at quick service spots with food purchase, say 2.00 at all others, think alot of people might go for that, especially those at resorts.2 or 3 refills at the resort plus some free, some minimal paid in the parks makes it worthwhile.

Isn't it amazing how you can walk umpteen miles each day at the parks, and still not lose a pound? Must be the 10,000 calories they inject into every food item. 🤣

Been a long time since I've been to the parks, but last time I was there they had the refillable mugs at the "budget" resorts. Are those the only hotels that have the refillable mugs, or are they available at the middle and top tier hotels too?

Every resort has them and they can be used at the resorts.

while we were there we bought 3 mugs for 60.00 total, 1 popcorn bucket for 13.00, easily got moneies worth, usually 4 sodas a day. at breakfast, going to the parks, on return, maybe a extra refill a day. popcorn was even better, all told maybe 10 refills over 3 days at 2.25 a pop
Did you get the mugs that now have the mickey head top closure type??? I’m wondering how those are as far as sipping out of them since the top has a different shape…

Disney would be losing money with that option. There would be so many refills throughout the full day in the parks it wouldn’t cover the cost. As it stands now guests don’t use the mugs as much in the food courts as they could so Dis is still making enough despite those guests who use them to the fullest. Even with a minor upcharge it wouldn’t give the profit Dis needs.
And yes I’m aware of the cost break Dis gets from the deal they get on soda but it still isn’t enough.
