Just was wondering as I put a name for a referral for DVC, did I miss out on something? I know the member I referred gets an incentive back but is there any current incentives I should have gotten myself for having a referral when joining? I know they have done that in the past but all I can find is now only the members name you use gets an incentive. Just curious! :).
With the current regular incentives I did get -$12/point being I bought 220 and the 4-5 day park hopper passes so I can't complain really. Oh and a $40 gift card when I participated in a phone tour. Every little bit helps when your spending so much! :)

No. In recent years I've only ever seen the referee get an incentive that one time. The referrer getting a reward is standard (as long as they live in a state where such incentives are valid).

You can refer up to 5 people a year and if that person buys you can chose between Disney gift card/visa gift card/ money down on your payments or save it to put down on a new purchase at Dvc. The referer is the only ones that get something and they people you refer have to fill out the form statin who refered them when closing the loan. You can pick your reward on the Dvc website under share the magic rewards

A current member who refers new business is eligible for a referral reward. But there are many terms and conditions. Only residents of certain states are eligible (many US states have local laws prohibiting rewards in conjunction with a timeshare purchase).

The name of the referring member must be mentioned at the VERY FIRST point of contact. This is a tricky one because DVC's sales database literally goes back 20 years. Even if a buyer made some modest contact with DVC back in the '90s or '00 (requested promotional DVD or literature, toured model rooms, attended the DVC presentation on Disney Cruise Line)...and didn't buy until many years later...the referring member MUST have been mentioned during that initial contact

Rewards are only issued for a first-time purchase. There is no reward associated with an add-on point purchase by a current member.

As for the buyer, occasionally DVC has had promos in which they would give an additional discount to buyers who are referred by a member. But it's been a couple of years since one of those promotions was run.

Full terms and conditions for the "Sharing the Magic" program are posted to DVCMember.com.

So in other words you have a better shot at balancing the federal budget than getting paid for a referral:).

I guess you could say that.

Many areas are excluded automatically for legal reasons. So no chance there.

As for owners who are eligible, the thing to remember is that DVC doesn't feel compelled to reward a "referral" if the buyer was actually introduced to DVC previously. Even if it took the buyer many years to decide, and they received a lot of counseling and assistance from a member. The key is that first contact introduction step.

They used to be a lot less restrictive in the past, but appear to have clamped down on things over the last couple of years.
