I feel that! I spend a lot of holidays with my husband's family, and it's the same way. The worst part is that the rest of the family subconsciously lumps me and Gabe into the category of the "women who have to cook and clean" and we automatically get ushered into the group that has to do everything too.

That's another great example of subtle homophobia and sexism. Equating gay men and women. Same with the ridiculous "So, who's the guy and who's the girl?" line if questioning. We're both very much men and identify as such.
I wish I could send that mentality back to 1959 to be buried…where it belongs.

It works most places. Hershey Park has a Chic-FIL-A and it’s wildly popular there. It’s closed on Sunday but they have so many other options. Not a big deal. MCO has tons of other options so it works there too. I could see it being an issue at a smaller airport or 1 with food stands beyond security at smaller terminals. There was a point in Philly where the terminals not controlled by American/USAir only had a handful of food options. It would have been a problem there.

Agreed. I also think Chick-Fil-A is as unlikely to consider setting up in a small airport as a small airport is to consider Chick-Fil-A. Atlantic City Airport, for example, would be a bad fit for both parties - only 1 really food option aside from the snacks in the gift shop, and also not busy enough for Chick-Fil-A to devote the resources.

The problem with the Atlantic City airport is spirit should be outlawed by an international tribunal…for the good of the planet 😎

My mom still thinks like that. “There has to be one “male” and one “female” in the relationship.” Uhhhh… No. Not at all. I’ve met plenty of masculine gay men who were in relationships with other masculine men. The equation of gay men to femininity and womanhood is very much homophobic and just ignorant overall.

Does anyone even know what the bill of rights is and how are we even sure that it's not something made up by CNN?
Well…they can’t find anyone who was actually in the room when it was written…so there’s no YouTube clip of it…

And there was a report that one farmer outside had a different opinion on it…so it can’t really be a fact then, can it?

🤔

As always…it ignores actually biology in favor of social patterns…which humans can change/control

Totally correct. DeSantis does not care about all Floridians, only the ones in the red counties. DeSantis ever had Orange and Osceola counties so, who cares, dump the RCID tax burden on them.

It's ironic that the folks that live in these counties are not the folks who go to the parks (unless they work there) and must "help" WDW to pay for the debt the left for them.

What stood out to me is that a company as rich as TWDC allowed the debt to happen simply because they could get away with not paying.

Just like they will get away with paying any additional taxes after RCID is gone

Disney AND DeSantis wins again.
One of the main points of the special district was for Disney to pay for their own infrastructure. In the current setup, they get to issue bonds for certain types of works to whoever is willing to buy them (mostly banks) to finance that work. By doing it that way, it doesn't impact their financials all it once, instead they pay it off over years with low interest.

Any government entity that can issue bonds does the same thing when needed.

This is pretty common and has nothing to do with if they could afford to pay it off at once. It is just good business practice.

Right!

I think most people agree that this should not have been done.

But now that it has been done, I prefer to focus on what happens next.
Absolutely no one who travels to wdw and has any clue about the history of its development thinks this “shouldn’t have been done”

They probably Just can’t warp their brain around that.

You are still referring to reedy creek, correct?

Yup, especially when you don't want to actually pay for stuff. Disney Wins again.

The City of Orlando is still paying off bonds issued to upgrade the roads around Universal Orlando Resort over 20 years ago. Universal didn’t just pay to get the work done up front, additional taxes are instead levied to finance the bonds. It’s a rather common process.

These kinds of things are common practice in all kinds of public and private scenarios.

In my state, colleges until recently borrowed money for construction at almost zero interest from the state. Allowing them to Invest their own money/grow their endowment.

Long story short - Princeton has a few bucks.

But at the end of the day…who benefitted? Pretty much everyone affected at all.

Reedy creek has benefited everyone in Florida beyond measure. Silly to suggest otherwise.

If chapek had balls…he’d have a presser by the sign across from Disney springs and say “listen, you B rate State…how dare you open your mouth about us at all? Take a look at where you are and what’s built in 20 miles in every direction…and your wallet.”

And he’d be right in the end.

But he totally sucks…of course.

They win, but they do pay. Part of the extra taxes RCID imposes are there specifically to pay off that debt. They just do it in installments because other companies and people were willing to foot the initial bill.

Now if you are saying they won't have to pay for it because RCID is going to be dissolved then yes, as it stands now that looks like the case but it isn't like they issued that debt thinking they weren't going to be paying for it.

Exactly..nobody writes a check for big expenses. Christ…everyone pay cash for your house? Even if you have it?

I think few of the supporters of this stupido bill even understand the slightest thing how these mechanisms work in the real world.

I assume that everyone (who am I kidding? 😂😂) saw the second act of the reedy creek thing they tried to bury Friday afternoon??

What specifically are you referring to here?

Bingo. That would be the smart thing. But it's Bob, so he won't do it.
