Redeeming Disney Visa Points

My mother plans on giving us her Disney Visa Points for our trip in May. The thought is to use them for my daughter at BBB. Any idea how these points are redeemed/transferred for us to use?

She can call in or from the website (chase.com/disney) request to redeem her points. Once you specify how many points you want transfered, they will send you (your mother actually) a card within a couple business days that acts the same as any Disney Gift Card. You are free to use it how you wish while at the parks or resorts.

If you wanted to wait until you were there to do the transfer (which would allow you to accumulate as much points as possible) You can pick up a rewards card from any of the park Guest Relations offices. Give your Mother the number on your rewards card and have her call in to Chase for them to transfer the points over. I'm pretty sure that the card can be activated on the spot.

Hope this helps.

Call or go on-line. Tell them you wish to transfer your points. They will send you a card, similar in appearance to a credit card, that has the points loaded for use. You then use that card like you would a credit card at the point of purchase. See information below.

It doesn't matter. You continue to accumulate points whether or not you have the Rewards card. You can transfer points earned to the same card until it expires. So if you have 500 points and transfer them to the rewards card, and you earn another 200 afterwards, you can add those 200 points the same rewards card for a total of 700 (or whatever value you have).

Was just trying to make it easy for the OP. I prefer to wait until I'm at the park and just pick up the card there instead of ordering one in the mail, waiting for it to come in, and then having to transfer additional points later. But you're right, the cards are reloadable and you can add points whenever.

You have to have a minimum of 10 however to transfer the points to an existing card.

For example, I ordered mine so I had plenty of time to receive it before our trip and I did not transfer the entire balance right away. I was expecting one more statement to post right before the trip but it was only going to be around 6 or so points. Since I left more then 10 on my account - all I have to do after the statement posts is make a quick call and transfer the rest to the card that I already received.
I like to get the cards before I go rather then worry about wasting time at guest relations in case it takes longer then usual.

no, just a number across the front and an expiration date.
I used at the Disney store on black friday and I could have sworn it had my name on it, but then I went and looked at the one and....

... no name on the front. But, it does have a signature box on the back

I always have orderd mine months before my trip...sometimes it takes weeks to come and sometimes they mess up by issuing me a card that expires at this years end and I plan to go in January usually. I discovered if you had a prior card and used it up and order another card this creates 2 cards thus the year end date from the prior card according to one person whom figured it out at Chase. So now when I call I do it even more in advance and specifically request them to check if I have any outstanding prior cards...and that this card be year end the following year. Twice I rec'd my card right before trip and had to make several calls to straighten it out....ended up buying a gift card with it for Disney one year as they "could" not help.

Just remember that the points you transfer onto your card EXPIRE on a certain date and when card expires all the points not used on card are GONE!....You dont lose points accumulated on your account only those you transfered onto card.

I was just going to point that out. It's an odd system.

That said, I do think you lose points on the account after a certain period of time - I recall the last statement I saw said something like the points I earned this year were good until like 2014, 2015, etc. depending on when I earned them.

But...the cards expire much more quickly. I have heard of them transferring to another card for you, but I believe that's a case-by-case exception.

To answer some previous questions, I have never had an issue with names or anything. I have a relative that has a Disney card that doesn't use the points (I know, crazy) so I usually have two rewards cards on me at WDW (mine and hers). I marked one with her initial so I knew them apart in case I needed to, but I never was asked and I actually have used more than one in the same transaction (clean out this card, put the rest on the other, etc.) and had zero issue.

I would sign it though, just in case. I don't think it's so much they care about the signature of the person who loaded the card, but the one using it - and again, I don't believe I've even had that checked before, but I like to cover all my bases just in case. And FYI, although you lose points accrued on your account when you cancel the card, the rewards card itself stays active and can be used until it's expiry date (basically, once you have it loaded on a rewards card, you are fully "vested").

But if for some reason you risk losing your points left on card you can use them to buy a Disney Gift Card that NEVER expires...think you have to have a minimum of 25 or 50....I used them to buy one on the Disney Shopping Site with my reward card when there was a mixup issuing my card's date at the last minute...did it Dec 31!!!:animwink:
