Recommendations for Raglan Road Entrees

We're planning on dining at Raglan Road (dinner) in October, and the menu is confounding me, for all the right reasons: there are at least half a dozen entrees I'd love to try! We're on the dining plan, so for once, money is no object. ;) For those who've had them in the past, what are your opinions of these particular dishes (and are there any others we should seriously consider)? We love everything in them. I just wonder which ones don't quite live up to their billing, and/or which ones knocked your socks off (or just caused your waistband to stretch out of shape)!

1 - Raglan Risotto – Risotto with shiitake mushrooms, garden peas, shaved parmesan & rocket lettuce. Add chicken or shrimp

2 - Lambo - Lamb shank braised in rosemary jus with mash, leeks, ake mushrooms & baby carrots.

3 - Mighty Mixed Grill - Lamb chop, Guinness banger, sirloin steak, black pudding, chicken drumstick & bacon. Mighty.

4 - Salmon of Knowledge - Baked Atlantic salmon fillet topped with smoked salmon, served with a maple glaze. It'll give you brains to burn.

5 -Serious Steak – 10oz sirloin topped with Irish whiskey marmalade glaze, with fresh basil oil, mashed potatoes & topped with beer battered onion rings.

6 - It's not bleedin' Chowder! - That's what Master Chef said! It's the freshest cuts of seafood & potatoes in a white wine infused cream broth. But it’s not chowder. Ok?

Braised Be. Beef – Braised beef with horseradish mashed potatoes, roasted carrots & parsnips.

this is delicious... presented well, served in a copper all clad pot

generally speaking, I like the food there... I had a wicked freak out at DTD that day.

1.) We usually NEVER go to DTD, but we had a 12 day disneymoon and we just needed a break from the mess of tour groups. We decided a little shopping and a movie would do us well, we saw Brave... really enjoyed it.

2.) We ended up being let down at world of Disney... I wanted a watch, but they only make crap watches these days. Even their citizens options were tacky, albeit well made and way overpriced at 300 dollars. (on a sidenote I just got a nice Seiko for 120 dollars on sale, which is more along the lines of where that type of watch should be).

3.) After the movie we made ressies at Raglan, I was excited and we had a few hours to kill. We decided to hit up one of the random bars there and when I got ID'd I realized I didn't have my ID. I'm that guy who always knows where everything is and doesn't lose anything. I panicked, started calling lost and found.. my hotel, etc etc etc. I was worried how the hell was I getting back on a plane without an ID...

my wallet is a costanza wallet and it has a secret slide where I keep cash for an emergency, somehow in the bustle of the day I slide my ID in that pocket and although I thought I had searched my wallet high and dry I didn't check there. After like 30 mins of freaking, I found it...

then proceeded to get hammered at Raglan after my mini breakdown... great guinness there, as good as home

Raglan Road is not only my favorite restaurant at WDW, its one of my favorites in the country...all of their food is good...I really love the Risotto with chicken added...and at dinner time the heirloom tomato salad as an appetizer....but really, all their food is good.
The Deaky Duo is a great appetizer as well -- and for some, enough for the whole dinner....it's basically a tray full of sausages that are lightly breaded, with mustard dipping sauce, and they are terrific. The pate and preserve appetizer is to die for, though heavy.
The chowder is very salty - beware if salt is a no-no for anyone on your diet. I tried it once and seriously couldn't eat more than a few spoonfuls or I would have been dizzy for two days afterwards...
The steaks are decent - nothing to write home about; its all in the presentation, though, and there they excel. Another great option is the terrific (and very frou frou) Shepherd Pie --- beautifully presented layered meal.
Their bar is very fully stocked -- and as the evening wears on, it becomes particularly busy. Make sure you have your reservations made. You can also use Open Table online to reserve tables. The secret of Raglan Road is out, and there are a LOT of Orlando locals that head there for happy hour after work, and for the bar later in the evening as diners start to head out...the result is that this place is now always very busy except for the 2 pm to 4 pm transitional period.

I had the steak in July. Personally, I found it completely uninspiring...felt like I was at Applebee's or something similar to that. Very cafeteria, overly fatty, kind of blah. The atmosphere was fun, service was spot on.

Raglan Road is one restaurant I'd go to every trip to WDW if I could, although I try to go every other trip.

Anyway . . . It's not Bleedin' Chowdah is incredible. I'm not a mussels fan, so they made my bowl a mussel-free zone. Keen Eye for the Shepherds Pie is my folks' favorite. And the Cluck Curry is pretty darn good too.

If they have the tomato gin soup, try it. I don't even like tomatoes, but this was good stuff.

We love Raglan Road and never miss a visit when at DTD. There are several things we really enjoy

The Dalkey Duo
Bangers and Booz
Kevin's Heavenly Ham
Serious Steak (my DS's must do each trip)
side of garlic parmesan and Truffle Oil Skinny Chips
Ger's Bread and Butter Pudding
Dunbrody Kiss

We have never had a bad meal here. Regardless of what you order, I am sure you will thoroughly enjoy dining at Raglan Road!!!
