Hi All:wave:
When an attraction is shut down for refurbishment.... to be reworked or changed in some way do the imagineers handle this solely or do the managers of that particular attraction get involved as well? Thanks

Depends on what kind of refurbishment we're talking about, but the managers are typically not involved.

If it's a major overhaul, like the recent Star Tours work, it's WDI all the way, usually with contractors hired to do parts of the work.

If it's a shut-down for general refurbishment/cleaning/repairs (like the annual shutdown of Splash Mountain), it can sometimes just be regular park maintenance, or it could be maintenance and WDI working together.

If there are changes made to the ride system that requires CMs to be retrained, I believe managers and trainers are brought in first, followed by the front-line CMs.

It can be any combination of WDI, Ride and Show Engineering and Engineering Services (maintenance). Almost always, there are contractors (such as the Buena Vista Construction Company). And, often, Industrial Engineering will be involved in some way, before and after. Once the ride is ready to be handed back over to Operations, then the local managers, Coordinator of Training and trainers come into play (that is, if any re-training is required).
