I just read that MK has opened the park at 8 am for everyone for the entire time we are there! It also said that Disney only does this when they are expecting records crowds!! We are there from the 9th until the 16th and are sooo hoping this is not true! Anyone else worried or am I overreacting??:(

I suspect this is because the 8th and 9th are days when all of New Jersey public schools are closed for some teacher thing and in the past many families from NJ decide to go to WDW... You might be in luck this year though with the storm causing problems in NJ there is a chance that some of the people that were going to go might not go anymore... So if you want you can take pleasure in someone else's pain... Then again, I wouldn't worry that much, if you plan out the popular rides you want you should still be able to ride everything you want.

Cannot even describe how offensive that post is! Being a public school teacher here in Jersey and just getting power back on this weekend I have to comment on your post - no one should "take pleasure in someone else's pain" or consider themselves "in luck" if families cannot go on their vacation. Houses are cold, dark, and damaged from the storm. Kids who have been home in the dark had a vacation with Mickey to look forward to... now they don't. Parents who were going to share the dream of a lifetime with their kids are now standing in gas lines. Vacation money now needs to be spent on repairs and put aside for lost wages since many cannot go back to work yet. I hope all of my fellow Jerseyians who booked their dream vacation are there to enjoy it. I hope those who aren't from NJ keep us in your thoughts and have a wonderful time :)

Have fun, just plan to do the big rides early and late, with the less popular attractions in the middle of the day, and you should be fine! Also make your dinner reservations now!

We were there Oct 26th-29th and every park was very managable for the most part. I am going to be honest, MK was the most crowded I have ever seen it in my life on the 27th. But, it was a Saturday, the weather was extremely nice and the park was open to ALL guests until midnight. Try to plan the weekend nights at different parks and do MK on a week night that you are there and you should be fine!

Seems like I tend to visit WDW during busy times..4th of July, Easter, tour group favorite time..now Thanksgiving.. but I dunno, the crowds just don't get to me, I guess I would be worried if I didn't see crowds of people...

This is so true. I live in toms river, which is rather close to Seaside and the neighboring beach towns. I consider myself very lucky that my house wasn't destroyed, and that I can still go on my trip. However, for those who had their house float away or lost it to a fire, it would only be another huge disappointment to have to cancel a full vacation, especially for children who are probably bored out of their mind without a school to go, or maybe heat to keep them warm. The thoughtlessness of some people is truly astonishing in situations like these.

Well said!! I'm so glad to hear your power was restored and that you are safe. It amazing me how thoughtless some people can be. For those of us that were not affected by the storm I hope you will consider contributing to the rebuilding efforts.

I just logged onto touringplans.com and checked the crowd levels for week i will be there (nov 12-17)....before last week they had MK a 2 on Tue and a 2.5 on Wed, now Tue is a 9 and Wed is a 9.1...but on these two dates MK was the only park to increase crowd levels...the others went down or stayed the same (with HS the only other one that went up on Monday from a 4.9 to a 6.5) I would agree with the poster that said it's because AP holders get a chance to preview fantasy land! I also was a dork and checked out the resorts to see if there were still rooms available....and there was plenty (even florida resident discounted rooms) so I would take that as a good sign.

for those not familiar with touring plans... it rates park crowds on a 1-10 scale, 1 being low crowds, 10 being max. (This is a estimate only)

This is the most brutal post I’ve ever seen! Terrible man, just terrible!

We'll be down there from the 10th through the 20th. We are going to the pass holder preview if the new FL on 10/14. Don't sweat the crowds, enjoy and talk to the people in line with you, you'll run into someone from this thread.

I posted this in another thread, but an additional reason that I think the park hours expansion was solely because of the AP Previews and not because they think it'll be crowded (at least during the week) is that they did not change the parade and firework times, nor did they add a second evening parade.

One of the first things they do when expecting large, previously-not-expected crowds at the MK is to add a second parade. (Sometimes even move the close time later, add a parade *and* move the parade and firework times later, like they did to this coming Saturday's schedule a couple months ago)
