Realityland?

Not sure if this is the right board to post this, feel free to move it MODS if you need to!
But, I've been reading Realityland before I go back to WDW next month. I was wondering if any of you have read it yet. Did you like it? I'm about mid-way through and although I'm learning things about Disney that I didn't know I'm also left feeling sad after reading some comments regarding the opening of the park. Just my feelings so far!
Any thoughts on the book?

It is a great book, a very thorough look at the technical aspects of getting Walt Disney World up and running. I also really enjoyed his two MouseTales books covering Disneyland. I did notice at least one or two, errors, though. Other than that, very enjoyable, I highly recommend it to anyone with any level of interest of Walt Disney World.

I have a copy of that book signed by the author and it's lots of fun for sure! I loved reading about how much it cost to run the Old World Antiques Shop and how it perfectly illustrates the difference between the Disney of today and the Disney of the past.

Do you remember what the errors were? So far, I like the book but I've learned some things that I didn't know that make my heart tug for Walt & Roy-finances, etc. But, I too would recommend it to others as well. Thanks for sharing!

I don't remember exactly, no, I'd have to read it again.

Thanks for sharing! It's fun to see what others think of the same book you are reading!

Great book looking at how the World became. Though I must say it was a book I could put down. Most Disney books I blow through right away.

I loved this book, too! My only complaint is that there is hardly anything about MGM and DAK. There must be more stories to be told about getting these parks up and running. However, I'm halfway through Disneywar and I'm getting a little behind the scenes info about that era at the parks.

I thought it was a great book as well. I, too, recall noticing a few errors in it. I don't recall exactly what they were either, but I just remember they weren't anything too extreme. More a case of getting some dates wrong, or getting some WDW info confused with Disneyland (or something to that effect). I remember reading the errors and being a little surprised that the author would make those errors, but also at the same time thinking they were no big deal.

I recently read it, also as a prelude to an upcoming trip in September, and overall I enjoyed it, but felt that the second half of the book felt rushed. The first half did an excellent job of presenting the initial construction story in great detail, which is obviously the heart of the story, but I would have liked some similar detail around the construction of later attractions and resorts.

I haven't heard about Disneywar. Could you tell me a little bit about it? I've been to Disney going on 6 times, but I enjoy reading books on the history and behind the scenes info. Would you recommend that book as well?

I read Disneywar and Realityland back to back and highly enjoyed both of them. Great insight into the parks/the company in general.

Disneywar isn't about WDW or the parks specifically, it's about Michael Eisner and his reign over the company.

Has anyone here read What Would Walt Do? I recently got it and am pretty disappointed.

I've read the book, found it very informative and a very good read. My girlfriend is currently reading it (ahead of our trip at the end of the month) and she seems to be enjoying it too!

I've been looking for Realityland, but have not found a bookstore that carries it.

Try your local library. That's what I did. I live in a small town and my library didn't have it but a larger city nearby had a copy and they sent it to my library for me. I got it two days later. That is where I get most of my Disney books-I suggest doing this so you don't waste money buying a book you might not like!
