Hey everyone. Glad to know there are so many Disney fans out there. I'm writing to let you know about a new Horizon's project in the works.

I am the executive producer of a new series of documentaries dedicated to lost attractions. Our first project is Horizons. I know what you are thinking.. This has been done. No offense to those who have tried this before, but we are producing a much better project. I have personally worked on over 60 feature films and television shows as well as hundreds of music videos and documentaries. Not to mention that EPCOT Center is the direct inspiration for my becoming an artist. This project is very personal to me, and won't be done poorly. I promise this will not look like a high school production. It will be broadcast quality and preserve Horizons for decades to come. (I want to be able to show my kids what EPCOT Center used to be, before the darker days of Disney)

That being said, here are the facts. I have over 20 hours of Super8 film and VHS Horizons footage. I am looking for more. I have interviews lined up with people responsible for the 'Choose Your Tomorrow' sequences. I have potential interviews lined up with cast members and members of WDI. I also have some documentation from the old Epcot Center Resource Library. I have quite a bit of audio from the attraction as well. I am looking for anything related to Horizons (pictures, blueprints, documentation, video, posters, postcards, photos, audio, etc.)

The documentary is being edited and produced by award winners and by people who are just as passionate about Horizons as I am. The audio is being re-mastered. The graphics and DVD layout are being done by professionals. We have professional Voice Over talent. This disc will not be distributed until it is perfect. Anyone who contributes will receive credit on the disc as well as free copies of the final product. Any input is more than welcome.

Thank you for your time, I appreciate it greatly. My tentative delivery schedule for Horizons is mid August. Other projects on the table include: Universe of Energy, Journey into Imagination, World of Motion, American Adventure, Communicore, Backstage Magic, Laserphonic Fantasy, the real EPCOT, WedWay, Monorail, and many more.

I believe these videos should be free to everyone - that`s why I don`t charge for mine (although I could). I believe the memory of these attractions should be available to everyone, not just those who pay for them. My collection includes the entire source audio of each scene, plus area loops, queue, load, unlaod, original music scores, unused scores, the entire source narration, blueprints, plans, hours of VHS, SVHS and DV footage, backstage, concept and construction photos and art of Horizons - and also the same for each of the other attractions you mention (laserphonic Fantasy aside - I only have the master score). They are all available in edited video form free of charge on the IRC network, as I feel making these videos for financial gain is wrong. Fair enough, also making them available on DVD for a modest fee to cover costs for those unable to download is an option, but not to `sell` them.

For anyone who wants to talk to the Imagineers who designed and built Horizons, several Yahoo! clubs have them as members.

Funnily enough, I work in television production as well - I guess thats where my inspiration came form.

Im not sure where you got the impression that Im out to make $$ on this. I guess it was my saying how passionate I am about EPCOT. It sounds from the tone of your posting that I have hit some type of nerve. I never mentioned anything about making $$$. I am selling the hard copy for a modest fee. It covers the cost of publishing the disc. There is a current Horizons DVD out there for sale at an outrageous price and the project is awful. It is my goal to preserve all of the attractions at the best quality possible.I agree that putting these online free of charge is a good idea, however I will not release hard copies out of my pocket. A webmaster has approached me asking to host avi and quicktime versions of my disc and I have accepted.

I have several Imagineers lined up for interviews on this disc. I met them through other WDI members I know.

Out of curiosity what type of tv production are you involved in? What have you done?

He he... sorry. I too have seen the one to `buy` and agree with you - holiday video for sale. All my tributes are online, since I don`t have the time to give a `mail order` service the attention it deserves, or want to get involved in the legal side of things with Disney (I`ve already had a `visit` via email) and yes - we both think the same - preserving the (memory) of these attractions for all. Sorry for jumping the gun, I do my videos with a passion and labour of love, it annoys me when others try to do an inferior version and make money out of it.

I work in TV in the UK - mainly prime time drama (I doubt you would have heard of much); Island at War, Dalziel & Pascoe, Making the Titianic, Forsyte Saga, A&E, Prime Suspect, Band of Gold, Cracker....

I`m a freelance Boom Operator by trade, but with a background in computer graphics for corporate video & editing.... hence my hobby.

Sorry again for jumping to conclusions, and welcome to the boards!

I certainly want to thank anyone who has a hand in preserving the history of any attraction. I've enjoyed many hours of video thru this site, and hope to continue. Thanks to all who make the effort for others to enjoy.

re: Horizons project contd...

Does anyone have any Horizons material that they can contribute? I specifically need complete versions of the Choose Your Tomorrow Sequences:

Space
Undersea
Desert

I also need a clean narration track.. I have tons of video, but if you have video I can use it for alternate angles and whatnot. If you have any footage of the destruction of Horizons, please let me know. Photographs are welcome as well. The more elements, the better the project.

Anyone who contributes will get free DVDs and credit on the project.

Thanks!

Hey, this sounds fantastic. I have seen the video done by Marni and it is excellent. I've say my kids down and had them watch the Horizons and the World of Motion videos Marni did and they loved them and wanted to go on those rides. I really do miss them, especially Horizons which was the one that I looked forward to going on every Disney vacation I took growing up. I look forward to seeing what you are able to put together for this one.
