RCT3 Demo

I will end up buying it (most likely), just because it looked cool.

All who agree that Atari ripped us off with the screenshots (the game DOES NOT look like that!!) say you agree!

I'm running it on a GeForce 2 MX, and yes it does look a little shoddy, but then again they recommend a GeForce3 or above (or ATI Equiv.). I had no problems with the speed of the game, although I agree with NemoRocks that building coasters is a lot harder (it seems to be fussy with the angles of the land).

I'll give it one more go, but I'm still not convinced. (also the squeeking of the Afterburner ride is getting on my nerves!)

I have mixed opinions

It still does feel like RCT, and it's really cool seeing everything in 3D and being able to officially ride your own rides.

However, the whole interface is just tedious. It's not as nearly as smooth and simple as RCT/RCT2 were.

Here's hoping that a future demo will be released. After all, this was just a beta and there is a lot of room for improvement.

The ONLY good thing I saw with RCT 3 is that it looks a TAD more realistic. I hated in RCT(1) and (2) how the trees looked so fake. Plus they'd NEVER change or grow.

It ran fine on my machine, but of course I have an ATI Radeon 9600 video card which I'm sure helps.

I didn't mind building the coasters though rotating around to see everything is a pain. What I couldn't do was figure out how to raise or lower a path even though the ground is flat. I wanted my path to go over the coaster and could never figure out how to get it to go up.

Not sure if I'll buy it yet or not.

Yeah, I finally got the whole "path lift" thing down, but now you just get frustrated with only 45 mins on the demo.

Oh! So you're Dean[AU] from the RCT3 board? It's great to meet you. I hang out there too but only as a guest. I haven't tried that method there b/c some ppl say it works and some say it don't. Did that method work for anyone yet?

The timer worked for me as well. Had to switch my time-zone to somewhere in Europe and turn off the auto-internet time updates. I played for well over four hours last night and have a few comments.

While the demo looks simply amazing it does seem to have some major flaws in game play. First you have to pay your park staff so much money you can't get your park profitable. People spend too much time walking around aimlessly and not riding anything, and it takes way to long for a park janitor to sweep up a pile of trash. I also noticed that at times my ride ratings on flat rides would suddenly have "uber-intensity" ratings of 45 when running in standard mode. There are also numerous clipping problems when peeps sit on benches and rollercoaster seats. Barf while obviously funny ranges on the extreme. If I ever went to to a park where people barfed so much getting off the double ferris wheel I'd be getting sick just from the barf.

Also, while it was funny to see my newly built looping coaster actually end up underwater at one point, it probably shouldn't allow me to build that one. At 75+ mph it can't feel good to suddenly smack the water with your face before entering a huge loop (even though it was funny to ride it and watch yourself go underwater briefly).

Now this is the DEMO so I'm hoping that a lot of this stuff is fixed before the actual release next month.
