I've downloaded the lastest Quicktime player, but only a giant Q with a question mark comes up. I cannot play trailers from apple.com. Anyone know why.

Someone on this sight said that it might be Norton Antivirus. It came preloaded on my computer when I bought it, but it has not been officially loaded. I can play other quicktime movies on line, but not the latest trailers from Apple. :(

Its going to be "Madagascar vs. The Wild" all over again. Granted there will be big differences, you have a movie about Rats coming out quite some time after another. The first will be HUGE because of the last film the studio put out (Wallace and Grommit). Whether you liked it or not, it was a huge success. Madagascar, was a HUGE success.. The Wild...was not. Now, thats not to say which one will be better. Personally I loved the Wild and hated, abhored, and just didnt like Madagascar. But after about, what 6-8 months after each other, The Wild just looked like a retread....granted it wasnt...but to the uneducated eye of Average Joe movie go-er, it was.

If you are refering to the movie Flushed Away I don't think it can be compared to Ratatouille. The plots aren't even the same, and Ratatouille is being released at a better time period, and I think it will do considerably well. :)

I think that the everyday normal folks will compare the two and say that one was a copy of the other, but to be honest...they have two totally different stories.

I don't think though that Ratatoille (sp? - I'm not checking) will look like the retread that "The Wild" was. Are their chances that people in the animation industry talked to one another and things may have slipped from company to company...possibly...most animation related people do tend to know one another and chat at gatherings.

After reading an animation forum (animationnation.com), I recalled the Dreamworks website shortly after they came into being and how dissapointed I was that it was more interactive or informational on their upcoming projects...some of the projects listed on that page...

Shrek
Madagascar
Sinbad
Road to El Dorado
(There was also another one in here, but I can't recall at all what it was called....it never made to the theatres tho.) - I think it was called Turk or something and went from Dreamworks to Aardman.

After thinking about it a bit, which even conflicts things that I've read in the past, Madagascar is on this list...that puts the timeframe at about 8-10 years ago which is much longer ago than any information give on "The Wild". Anyways, I just noticed I'm going to be late for class...so I'll try and think of this some more...but if you want to say retread....I think the Wild definitely has it written all over it.

No, I'm not saying that it WILL be a retread, but people are usually not like fans. Fans will do the research, read the articles and know that they are different films. But the majority of people are not fans. They see the trailers such as they did for Wild and will do for Ratatouille....they will see Rats in the sewers. I know, and you know they are two different movies. They will not. They will see a movie that comes out in November with cute talking rats in a sewer. When it comes time, seven months later, for a movie with cute talking rats, they will say "seen it".
Wild was victim to the same thing. Two different stories, and the Wild was definately the better of the two.
Flushed Away and Ratatouille will be two different movies, and while Pixar has a good track record with me (other than that piece of crap Cars) I think Aardman does too...after all, Wallace and Gromit is a classic, from the shorts to the full length feature.
Time will tell on this one, but I think time is against Pixar on this one.
