The Director and stars of Tangled visited the Disneyland meet n' greet in Fantasyland this weekend.

The Disney Parks Blog has some fun interviews with these Tangled celebs outside the meet n' greet. I have to say this movie is becoming more and more interesting to me, and I may just go see it in the theaters, or at the very least add it to my Netflix queue. I usually pass on modern Disney animated movies, but this one looks like it's back to basics with some wit added in.

Here's the full Disney Parks Blog post on the Tangled stars visiting the meet n' greet at Disneyland. http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/bl...zel-and-flynn-rider-at-the-disneyland-resort/

It is interesting how the two Tangled meet n' greets differ, isn' it?

I think you hit the nail on the head by calling out WDW management on this one. You have to wonder what they do with all their money, don't you?

Both are temporary and when you consider the amount of capital spending going on I think you are being overly critical. DL just happened to have a location that fit the theme better but neither required nor received a major construction budget. If they decide to add these as pemanent additions then I think both would be relocated and given appopriate budgets. I still think the FL skyway station would be perfect with a faux forced perspective replica tower built (attached to the HM show building). Yeah that would work.

It seems a bit unfair to use the temporary Tangled meet and greets as examples of how TDA runs their parks better. Mind you, there are tons of good examples, but given that there is really no other place in WDW's Fantasyland for such a meet and greet, they did a fine job. All they did at Disneyland is attached some prefab "hair", do a paint job, and re-model the interior for a meet and greet...not really anything you can do at WDW's outdoor location.

To be fair, they appear to have built a tower overlay to the top of the existing tower at Disneyland. It just appeared one morning, so that tells me it was built beforehand, likely in two sections, and then clamped on to the top of the existing tower. The result is the tower home from the movie, where the existing tower was just sort of a bland turret.

The tower before, off to the left pre-Tangled construction...

Someone thought this out and built a very detailed custom set piece there.

And certainly Disneyland had a bit of luck with having that tower structure there to begin with. But it's really interesting to me how the different properties spend their money differently.

I would love to know how this all goes down when Burbank wants to fire up the synergy machine and publicize an upcoming movie in the theme parks. Did Disneyland just ask for more money up front? Did WDW not ask for enough money from Burbank? If WDW has a nice little piece of real estate with the Storytime area, why not ask for more cash from the Studios to really plus up the area and add icons and props that play up the movie, instead of just banners and a table?

It's just fascinating how the two places function differently. I wonder what the WDW management asked for exactly, or where the funds even come from, when it's time to flog a new movie in the theme parks?

Everything that has come out so far about the movie seems that you are going to want to see this in theatres. Most of the press has been overly positive and some are even saying that it is the best Disney animated film since the Lion King.

Im getting more excited about the movie too. These look like new classic Disney characters. I just wish the commercials/trailers would showcase one of the original songs and music instead of the rock music crap. Makes it look stupid.

It looks like a nice little new meet n greet for MK. I sense another WDW bashing Al Lutz article though about the differences between the two versions. Hes probably reading the comments and cant wait to gloat about how much better theirs is. :brick: Of course I guess I didnt help much either by saying what I just did lol but just sayin.

It does seem a little fishy to me that they closed this location for 5 weeks just to hang up some banners (that would take 1 hour) and put up a pole and some wires to string lights and an awning from (that would take 2 days tops).

Whereas at Disneyland they closed the candy shop in Fantasyland for 6 weeks to transform the cottage and an adjacent unused tower into the tower from the movie and a fully themed cottage set inside for meet n' greets.

The timing on the version of Tangled for WDW just seems a bit fishy to me. Almost as if they had planned on doing something more along the lines of the Disneyland setup, but midway through cancelled it and then debated on what to do exactly and ended up just scrambling to do the banners and hanging lamps to get it open quickly. :veryconfu

It's a very odd decision, to be sure, and yet another baffling example of one coast doing one thing and the other coast doing something completely different with the exact same concept and characters. :hammer:

Like it or not, the work done at Fairytale Gardens took longer than 2 days and 1 hour. Compare FTG with before and after pic's as you did the D'Land example. Quite a bit of concrete work and the awning support pole is massive. Plus with MNSSHP's at the Kingdom, there is not a lot of closed time to work.

I actually have to agree with this little bit of what JT04 said

I still think the FL skyway station would be perfect

Think that would have been the best place for this. You would still get to have Belle's Enchanted Christmas and the meet and greet as well. And then when you move Belle to the new area when its built you can use the old Grove for what ever is new or for Tangled.

Maybe they're waiting to see how popular the movie is and Repunzel will get a presence in the FLE. If that's a possibility, it wouldn't make much sense for them to spend an enormous amount of dough on a temporary location!
