Rapper Praises 9/11 attacks

KRS-One, decency zero

If Osama Bin Laden ever buys a rap album, he'll probably start with a CD by KRS-One.

The hip-hop anarchist has declared his solidarity with Al Qaeda by asserting that he and other African-Americans "cheered when 9/11 happened."

The rapper, whose real name is Kris Parker, defiled the memory of those who died in the terrorist attacks as he spouted off at a recent New Yorker Festival panel discussion.

"I say that proudly," the Boogie Down Productions founder went on, insisting that, before the attack, security guards kept black people out of the Trade Center "because of the way we talk and dress.

"So when the planes hit the building, we were like, 'Mmmm - justice.'"

The atrocity of 9/11 "doesn't affect us [the hip-hop community]," he said. "9/11 happened to them, not us," he added, explaining that by "them" he meant "the rich ... those who are oppressing us. RCA or BMG, Universal, the radio stations."

Parker's screed drew a loud boo from novelist Tom Kelly, who was in the audience. "I lost six friends there on 9/11," Kelly told us afterward.

Parker also sneered at efforts by other rappers to get young people to vote.

"Voting in a corrupt society adds more corruption," he added. "America has to commit suicide if the world is to be a better place."

Ex-Nirvana rocker Krist Novoselic, who was on the panel, yelled back: "That is wrong, man. Suicide is not the answer."

But, judging by Parker's downward-spiraling career, he's already bent on self-destruction.

At first, I was fine with him saying he 'liked' the 9/11 attacks, I mean, we ARE in a free society, he has the rights, do I think he is right, no, but still. But now it sounds more and more he is just doing this as a publicity stunt.

What es me off more than the 9/11 and the vote comment is how he is using the 1st ammendment like this.

"Psst... geeze Cleveland, did you say that just to be edgey? There is a difference between edgey and offensive. Good day sir...." -Peter Griffin

Sounds like he's just trying to outdo Eminem, Howard Stern, and the like.

At least Howard Stern has an audience, Eminem has an audience...this guy is just trying to claw, any way he can, into the limelight.

Ohhhh CAN YOU BELIEVE HE SAID THAT??? What will he say next?!??!?!

(The exact response he's trying to get).

Pretty sad that he's saying all this about a country who's letting his voice be heard. See what happens if he went over there (before the war) and started spewing his mouth negatively about the government...They'd have his head...literally.

The beautiful thing about the American people (especially now), is that most people are going to completely ignore this idiot. It's obvious he just wants attention; to stand out from the crowd. Let him. Eventually (read: soon), the hip-hop community WILL ostracize him and he will be broke, alone and angry at those who gave him the freedom to end up that way.

It's obvious he's using the opposite side of the "Britney Approach" spectrum. No talent, but a newsmaker! :brick: One is enough IMO.

BLASPHEMY! I can't beleive he would say this. I for one will completely forget this guy and make sure everyone does NOT buy his album. It's sad how much people will say these days.

I've never even heard of the guy!

Don't take what this guys says to heart. He came for a conference hosted by the Afro-American Studies and Research Department at the University of Illinois while I was working there (I was there specifically to help out with the conference).

The guy is a nut job. I had to listen to his speech, and it was all insane ramblings. He has this whole 'temple of hip hop' thing too

http://www.templeofhiphop.org/

read it. you will see that he is a bit out there. Talking with others in that department, most of them were a bit shocked that they would bring him in (it was the directors idea) and many were offended by how he acted and treated others around him.

Take everything he says with a HUGE grain of salt. maybe a whole bucket full.
