Wow, terrific pictures. Awsome, especially with the jack o' laterns on the castle.

Were you using a tripod or did you use a flash with those?

And if you were using a tripod, what type was it? Im looking to get a tripod for my camera and really have no idea what to look for.

the most important feature to look for when buying a tripod is...

it doesnt move when you take a picture.

really...as long as you can avoid the shake you're good to go!

or use a 1-2 sec shot pause between trigger and photoshot .. this should keep out the "shot shake"

The parade pics had flash and a tripod, the fireworks shots had NO flash and a tripod. My tripod is a cheap lil' thing from Ritz Camera

Cool, but how big is your tripod? Is it like a table top one or is it one that comes up a couple of feet?
