Random Characters Spot

Hello everybody!

This question to everybody, especially the diehard characters fans:

What is (or were) your favorite random character spot or moment:

Mine was the Toontown Train Station at MK before the New Fantasyland for 2 reasons:
1 Obscure and rare characters showed up
2. When you get off the train at Toontown you can go straight to meet the bunch of characters by the alleyway.

Now its the World Showplace between Canada and UK at Epcot because you can see between the door who will shows up.

I used also like the character palooza moment at HS from 2007-2013 when they also had rare characters.

Have a great day!

I hung around Regal Eagle and watched the area between America and Italy where they do a bunch of surprise character meets a lot a while back. It stopped being fun after a bit because it was almost always the same ones. Always Smee, Gepetto (never Pinocchio for some reason), a penguin, etc. I still make a point of wandering over there if I go to Epcot in that timeframe, though. I did get to see Bolt once; that was a super rare one.

Funny story, though: once I was with my brother and his friends in Epcot and we split for one reason or another. Later we meet back up and had a conversation like "oh, we passed the skeleton guy earlier", "Jack? Near America?! He gets like an eight hour wait at parties!", "Yeah, he was there. We forgot to tell you".

(I had already met him before, but of course one of the rare times an actually rare character pops up only the family member that hates character meets sees them.)

I’ve got 2 to venture 1. Back in 2019 when they had the characters at the flagpole every day one time they had phineas and ferb so that was awesome 2. Same year in storybook circus one time we were selected to be the “big top family of the day”we were brought into the silly sideshow building before it opened for the day and got to meet all 4 characters that normally meet in that building without a line and then a cast member took us to big top treats and got free marshmallow sticks coated in chocolate with the little chocolate things on them and we got free goofy’s glacers the weird thing is I’ve never heard of it outside of that one experience anyone else ever heard of this?

Years ago we would always find Jiminy cricket outside Pinocchios Village Haus in MK and/or at the Conservation Station at Rafikis planet Watch. Now he can never be found.
The other spot as mentioned above by WorldExplorer was around Italy. We found at times Robin Hood, Little John, Friar Tuck.

I mostly skip character greets but have had a few fun ones over the years.

For a short time, MK had a Capt Jack Sparrow meet and greet where the restaurant is now located. It was before they had the show, and Jack was spot-on! It only lasted about a month. He was REALLY in character though, so it was fun watching him joke around with everyone.

The Mandalorian meet was pretty neat.

First character meal ever was fun. They were new, and still in a trial phase. I was just there to eat, but the characters were all allowed to have fun at each table. Back then, they didn't have to visit every table, so I think we only had Pluto greet us, but he had all kinds of fun interacting with everyone.

One of the better ones is the stepsisters, esp when they used to be at 1900 Park Fare. They were always a hoot there.

Last summer, the characters changed at 1900PF though, and the meal is not at all worth the money anymore, but Mirabelle was the highlight. She was also spot-on, and took time to interact with everyone. (she was the exception though)

Not exactly a character, but Chef TJ is amazing! He has worked all over WDW, and I think he might be retired now. You would know him though if you ever met him. amazing!

Oh, I recently had a great conversation with Doc (Back to the Future) over at Universal.

The bridge between France and the UK pavilions.

You can often see characters there that you might expect to be elsewhere. I was once told that they often do character training meet & greets in that area.
Yes, I’ve seen a ton of unique characters over there. Epcot really seems like the place to go for the random characters, between the World Showplace (think that’s what it’s called) gate and the International Gateway ramp, it’s pretty common especially during certain times of the year!

Whenever I’m there it’s usually just Mickey and friends

Yea, Daisy now I think? Don’t remember for sure. Used to be more common to see the interesting characters there (I’d see one like every other time I went through sometimes), but now they seem split between there and the World Showplace thingy. Also seems to be more rare in general, probably since they aren’t training as many performers anymore.

I recall seeing a few interesting characters back in 2018, at least twice, right past the tapstiles at AK...
First was Br'er Fox, Br'er Bear, and Terk.
Second was Meeko.

Back in 2019 (and February 2020), was trying same location for Br'er Rabbit, Thumper, and/or Miss Bunny only to fail with each attempt. I've also had the pleasure of meeting Mr Penguin at Epcot in July 2023 (near the America Pavilion) as a unexpected encounter, and Rabbit in the same location back in August 2024.
