Random AP Question

I am sure people have odered APs through Disneyworld.com, but I was wondering if it really takes 2 weeks for the passes to arrive? I need them sent to me so I can sign up for DDE. Is it worth the $10 to get the passes sent via Express mail?
Also, because the mail in my neighborhood tends to get mixed up (My US Weekly magazines have shown up like three weeks later....) should I have them sent to my office? This is strictly and opinion question, feel free to answer or not!
I am very excited to go. Woke up in cold snowy NY this morning, walked the dog and cannot WAIT for the feeling of waking up in Disney (although I will miss my dog!)

Not sure what DDE is, but, why bother to have them sent to you? Use the "will call" feature and they will be waiting for you at any guest service's window. No chance of the mail being mixed up or lost.

DDE is Disney Dining Express ... I need the voucher number on the pass to sign up for DDE. My mother is heading down two days earlier and I would like for her to have the DDE for the discount.

With the will call option, the voucher number is on the confirmation email they send you.

Hmmmm ... something to definitely think about. Although I am the type of retentive person that needs everything squared away before I go away on vacation. So if it was sent to me all I would have to do is activate it. I think I will sleep on it tonight and decide tomorrow!

LOL, I am somewhat rententive too and that is the reason I did the will call, I would have been looney making sure, one kajillion times, that the voucher was where it should be before I left. When you turn in your email the pass they give you is activated immediately(on the day of pickup). Just consider the will call an "e-voucher" which is what it is. See, just one step. We REALLY liked the ease of this. But, you need to do what you are comfortable with.

I prefer will-call as well, but just to let you know - you can't order the DDE with your will-call confirmation number. Believe me, I tried and argued, but Disney would not let me do it. They said I either had to have the actual AP or the AP voucher. Personally, I think this is ridiculous and I told Disney that, but they wouldn't budge. So, when I got to WDW and picked up my renewed AP, I called DDE right then, ordered the card and used the authorization letter they faxed to me to receive my dining discounts for the whole trip. It wasn't a pleasant experience being told that even though Disney had my money for my renewed APs - because I chose to do will-call, I had no AP benefits. But it all got worked out in the end thank goodness. My DDE has already paid for itself. :sohappy:

I doubt I will have the actual dining card by the time she leaves (may 4) so I will need to print out like 40 copies for her and put them in different places in her suitcase so she has them. If I did not have to get the DDE, then I would definitely do will call!
Well I will order the Premium AP tomorrow and keep my finger crossed. I think I will have it delivered to my office!

Do you and your mother have the same name? When we used our letter, one of the restaurants (Kona Cafe) asked for our ID when we showed them the letter, just to make sure we were who the letter said we were. I've read on another thread that at least one other person was carded when using their letter as well.

Just something to keep in mind.

When we got to will call, I gave them the confirmation email, and my credit card. They rang up the sale at that point, so I got her ticket and a receipt. When I looked back at my billing statements, the charge posted on the day we got to the park, not 3 months before when we ordered it.

So I guess when they mail you a voucher, they have actually sold you something and will charge you when they ship it to you. But when you use will call and just get the email confirmation, they don't actually sell you anything until you pick it up.

But still you'ld think it wouldn't work that way.

If you're worried about the mail getting mixed up in your nabe, then by all means have it sent to your workplace.

You didn't mention how far away your trip is, but even if you decide against express shipping, when you sign up for DDE, you'll be all set to go. I signed up for DDE in Jan about a week before going. They offered to e-mail or fax a letter that would let me use the discount, which is what I used at the resort and never had a problem. You should also be able to get a letter for your mother to use, just ask when you call.

There was a backlog of processing for the actual DDE card at the time since the program had just been opened up to APers. My card arrived in the mail last week.

You won't need to print so many letters... I printed off a handful before my last trip in case I needed them. However, the restaurant or bar you use it at will return your letter to you. They don't keep them.

When we ordered our APs and chose the will call option, they zipped my credit card that day. All we had to show at the time of pickup was a photo ID and the confirmation letter. On the confirmation letter it shows the cost of the AP and how it was paid for, leaving a bal. of 0.
