Rainy days.....poncho or umbrella?

I avoid umbrellas entirely. I carry a poncho sometimes but usually I dont even bother with one. When I see a storm hitting near I run into the stores or head for an inside attraction. Even on those times when I've gotten wet, its dried quickly enough not to be a bother. Whew, I've been very fortunate to avoid the trips where it rained for an extended time or all day.

Ponchos. Umbrellas are less convenient to me and everyone else. That said, I hate ponchos as well. They're not comfortable at all. Unless it's raining really, really hard, I tend to just don't do anything or go on an indoors attraction.

Except when soaking wet poncho wearers sit on a bus or other dry area and leave it wet.
Right. That's just another issue and disrespectful. Same can happen with wet umbrellas being placed on bus seats (seen it before) or shaking a wet umbrella out ON the bus.

As with anything, you have to be respectful. If done right, the poncho is superior in every way.

My Helly Hansen Hellytech Mountain jacket. 100% waterproof, taped seams and zippers, underarm zips to let it breath. Purchased on sale inside the pavilion still currently known as Norway.

A wet umbrella doesn't occupy an entire seat surface like a wet poncho wearer does. At most, the ground gets wet with an umbrella.
When I go in a dry place the poncho comes off and rolled up. I don't think I've had problems with others with ponchos or umbrellas...most seem to wear ponchos.

I'm sure we'll have a ill poncho/umbrella guest interaction one day.

Check this out. You know how they put the ponchos out in stacks on the counter in the cashier areas? This idiot thought they were free and just grabbed 4 for his family and walked out. I almost said something, but I thought, why start a scene?

Poncho - less weight than an umbrella, and easier to carry with you (in bag or pocket). Stock up on them from the dollar store before you leave home, then you can just throw them away when you're finished.

Umbrella for the win. Especially the mini, collapsible types. Ponchos suck. They drip everywhere and after you take them off inside an attraction, what do you do with them? A nice collapsible umbrella can fit into a knapsack or duffel bag easy. When I visited WDW one year and it started raining, I happened to be in Epcot at the time, so I headed over to Great Britain and bought an umbrella. Since it rained on and off my entire trip, it was a very wise purchase.

Umbrellas drip just like ponchos and ponchos can go in bags! When it's a windy rain umbrellas are no good :).

The Disney ponchos are actually very well made. Their not super thin that sticks to you like seran wrap like some ponchos.

Yeah, but then you have to pull the drippy old poncho out and put it on again before you leave the attraction. I have never been able to do that without getting wet. Umbrellas leave you high and dry.

And sure umbrellas are good in a windy rain. You just use then as shields like Captain America!

I've never worn ponchos, but my wife loves them. I have a mountain hardware rain jacket. Dual seams, over cuffs for wearing jackets under it, and zippers under the arms....for what I've paid for ponchos for my wife...I could have bought her a nice one too. They don't rip. Tgey are easier to dry. They look better...
