RFC sucked, then it got better, now it's sucking again. I still love my cranberry waffle at breakfast, though!

If your son is turning ten, I'm sure this is not the first thing you've done because he enjoyed it, even if you didn't. :) Even if you hate it, you've done something good for your son on his birthday, so it's all good! :)

I have found the Rainforest at AK to be far superior to the one at DTD. The last couple times at DTD we said we would never go back. Service, food, etc. Yet we really enjoy the one at AK and it seems cozier as well and not nearly as crazy.
Wow, its amazing how people have different experiences, I would have said the complete opposite. For us we have always had poor service at AK and the food quality was lacking as well and that's coming from a 15 year restaurant manager that used to work for Landry's. We have always had great experiences at DTD, and the new volcano effect is pretty cool too.

My family loves RFC, we visit on each trip. I've never found a difference between the 2 locations - we've been happy at both. There's lots of cute photo opportunities! Kids love the animals, and the lively atmosphere! DH & I do too, haha. ;) I think you will have a great time there!!

one thing that I have found is to get a ressie, you need to call Rainforest or t-rex directly not thru Disney. that is true even if on a dining plan. Disney had nothing 180 days out but was able to get time I wanted when I called them a week out. even got one for 2 days out when we changed plans and boys wanted to return there

I always found that whether Rainforest in NJ or Orlando, it is what you order. Just check out reviews/threads or ask around on food threads.

I have to refresh my memory with the menu and I can offer some good eats I've had there. Be back later...

RFC has been one of my favorite places to eat. Ive gone every trip. This trip will be the first time of not going because I want to do all things new and different this trip. I have always gotten the chicken fried steak with the white gravy. Awesome!!

Yes, I remember that we had to call TRex direct, but didn't know it was the same for RFC. Thanks for the tip!

I actually like the RFC, we are 2 adults and have never had a bad meal. I did try the RFC in London a couple of years ago and have to admit it was the worst meal I have eaten in my life, the first time I have ever asked for my money back, it was dreadful. Makes the RFC in DTD a 5* in comparison, have only eaten breakfast at AK but it was good

DS who will be turning 10 on our next trip wants to eat at RFC on his birthday. So I have arranged it on our itinerary to be in AK that day and will do my best to get a dinner reservation for there, but I am just not excited about it. I don't know why. We have never been to a Rainforest Cafe and we did TRex on our last trip and enjoyed it, (I imagine they are similar) but....I don't know. Of course we will go there because it is birthday and his pick, but I need you guys to tell me good things about it to help me get excited!
they have a full bar :)

We are at the DTD location tonight. If you have a landrys card, you get priority seating and won't have to wait. We got right in tonight and it was packed. Food was okay. Nothing extraordinary. Kids love the atmosphere. Be sure to get your son the volcano dessert- awesome.

I am sorry "Hatter" but my lil ol' southern belle brain always hears you with a 'Billy Connelly' accent. I just LOVE Billy Connelly !!!
I didn't even know who Billy Connelly was so I had to google him. I think I will stick with Sean Connery or Gerald Butler when reading Hatter in my head.
