Rain Shoes?

We are going to Disney this Sunday. It is going to be cooler than we wanted and chances of rain everyday.

I have raingear (ponchos, raincoat, umbrella) but worried about shoes. It is going to be in the 60's days and 40's at night. It has been changing everyday so who knows?

My two pairs of tennis shoes that I was going to bring are New Balance and they are mesh which will soak pretty fast but will dry out quickly, but with socks feet will be cold and wet.

I do have an older pair of Easy Spirit Tennis Shoes that are leather and kinda out of style but would probably keep my feet dry on the really rainy days. Won't be very fashionable but ....

I have a pair of Teva's that everyone says are SO COMFORTABLE, but I have not found that to be the case.

Thinking of buying a pair of Keen Sandals. I used to have a pair but wore them out. I hate to buy new shoes to wear to Disney but Keens might be more comfortable and warmer than Teva's. It is winter!!

Suggestions??

Doing this right is key...I had to leave the park and buy my kid a new pair of waterproof shoes because he was so miserable on a rainy day. I recommend waterproof hiking shoes. I wear Merrell or Hoka (be sure to get the waterproof versions), but I am sure there are other good brands. Also a spare pair of socks to change into in the event any dampness makes it past the gore-tex. I have worn Tevas, but in cold weather that won't work. I also find the wet straps chaff after awhile...on a sunny day they would dry quickly, but a cooler could keep them wet for a long time. Also, there is a huge difference between a steady light rain/drizzle and a true downpour. In the latter, there isn't much that is going to keep you dry. For the record, it takes a really long time to dry completely soaked shoes with the in-room hair dryer. Good luck.

You pretty much have 4 options.

1. Deal with wet shoes.
2. Wear waterproof shoes like the aforementioned Merrell or Hoka.
3. Wear shoes that don't require socks such as sandals, Crocs, or flip flops that can get wet and dry quickly
4. Bring a change of shoes and socks.

What do you do on days you go on Kali River Rapids?
Never been on Kali River Rapids but I have gotten wet on Splash Mountain but it was warm weather. I just don't like being COLD and wet.

I am bringing three pairs of sneakers and plenty of socks. We are staying at Yacht Club so we can go back and change midday.

I don't want to buy new sneakers at this point since they would not be broke in. I cleaned up my leather sneakers and they will work & they are comfortable to walk around in.

On days that I know we're going to be doing "wet" rides, I wear a pair of Merrell sandals that are quick drying. I can usually wear these all day without any issues. We usually also return to our room at some point during the day wear I will also change into a new pair of shoes (I take an entire suitcase of shoes--it's the only way I've found to save my feet, which have severe neuropathy, from getting horrific blisters). By changing my shoes frequently, I tend to keep my feet happy!

I pack silicone shoe covers, they work great. You can throw them in your backpack and slide them on if it rains. They have a wide variety on amazon. Not sure if it's ok to share links but just search "silicone shoe covers" or "waterproof shoe covers". Most have treads but can still get a tint bit slippery.

I have used these as well and they have worked very well. The only time they didn't work was when I rode Slinky Dog in the rain and the rain just ran down into the shoes.

I know you said you have Tevas, and I’m not a fan of regular Tevas, but I have some that are the “hurricane drift” style and they have been GREAT for the rain in Disney and very comfy.

Thanks for all the replies!

Just returned and it only rained one day. I wore my leather Easy Spirit sneakers and my feet kept completely dry. My niece wore a pair of skechers and her feet were soaked.

I definitely have to invest in a pair. My feet were hurting me for hours after a rainy hurricane Halloween event.

The lazy (perhaps dumb) castmember wouldn't give me my money back or let me reschedule. Even though it was early September when I'm sure there were plenty of nights. I've heard people on the boards get to do it though. Years later that night still chaps my .

Keeps are just as cold. You will either need hiking boots that are water proof with long pants to keep top of socks dry. Or deal with the cold and swap out when it stops raining.

Keen makes a great lightweight waterproof hiking shoe. I’m a Merrell fan and they have kept my feet warm and dry. I did replace the “factory” insole cushion. To me they’re comfy for walking around all day.
