Rain options?

There's no real cause for worry. Rain there, at least in my experience, has been in 20-30 minute bursts, which is actually nice this time of year since it gets pretty hot there. You can always hide away in a shop if it gets really heavy, but usually it's not so bad. You could get a poncho, but just know, you could get hot in them and then you'll have to carry them around. If it is mainly overcast, at least it'll be cooler out. If anything, you may catch a day or two of really bad rain, but I wouldn't think it would happen the whole time.

The worst part for me would be trying to protect my camera (but even then, if you do have a DSLR, you can get a sort of covering to put over it for maybe like $10 or $15 from Amazon).

We have done 2nd and 3rd week in June for the last 7 years. We will be back this coming Tuesday, so our trips will coincide.

We have always gotten some rain and thunderstorms, but nothing that so prolonged that it affected the trip. There were a couple of instances in which fireworks and parade were delayed at MK, but they ended up doing them every time. One time a crazy thunderstorm with lots of wind hit (we're from the Midwest, so used to bad storms) and it was awful for a couple of hours. It was not predicted, just came up. We waited it out with other families at the Tiki Bird Show, then went on and had a super fun night. Lots of people left the park, but I am so glad we didn't.

If it's an afternoon shower, we head to the parks instead of taking our daily afternoon break. Often times lots of people leave during these showers, so it's a great time to tour. Have a great trip!

I would suggest a ziplock bag for your phone and a large waterproof bag/ziplock for your stroller or backpack to put items in that you do not want wet, like a camera. I'd avoid wearing heavy jeans- miserable if they get wet and they never dry, it seems.

I would not leave, but wait it out. If it rains the whole day, then go anyway and have a great time! It will be a good memory.

Certainly, a rainy day could make for a good conversation starter at many meet & greets. Wendy told me that it never rains in Neverland as long as Peter is there, but once when he was away visiting London, it snowed.

Every summer, the forecast for Orlando is non stop thunder storms, it's not a accurate as a lot of days it will not rain at all, but even when it does it lasts for about ten minutes then stops. Usually hits any where between 3pm-8pm.

And let's not forget that World Showcase has several galleries, while AK has the Gorilla Falls trail and Maharajah Jungle Trek, both of which have little indoor spots along the way.

Don’t let this worry you. It's that time of year when it rains every day. You'll find that, as most have said, it will usually rain very, very hard but for a short amount of time. There are times when it can rain longer but you still will have a good time. Again, do the outdoor rides when you know it's sunny and be flexible.

IMO, as @Weather_Lady mentioned, wearing the right type of shoes is key. Wet, soggy shoes are extremely uncomfortable to wear for a long period of time so bring some that you know are made to get wet and dry out fast. Usually if you're in the rain, whether you have an umbrella or poncho, you will get wet. When it rains, it often rains sideways.

We are locals and we find forecasts are very unpredictable here. We have yet to understand what is meant by the percentage. Just this past week, days that had a higher percentage of rain didn't rain at all while days with a less chance of rain did. Plus, it might be that one area gets a ton of rain and other areas get none. For example, my husband rides his bicycle to work and there is a stretch of road that he takes that is a mile long and you can see clearly from one end to the other. One day, at the beginning of this stretch of road it was sunny and partly cloudy blue sky and dry as a bone but it looked hazy at the other end. He thought it was his eyes or the heat coming off of the pavement but when he reached the other end, he said it was pouring buckets.

When we're at the Parks and it rains, we take the opportunity to talk to Cast Members and learn a little about them since many are from other parts of the world. We also like learning fun facts and trivia from Cast Members and some will know and share design features that the imagineers have incorporated into the design of the parks that have meanings behind them. You could also purchase the "Hidden Mickeys" guide book and search for the Hidden Mickey's where ever you end up taking shelter.

As others have said, the silver lining is that the Parks clear out and you can squeeze in a lot more attractions in a shorter amount of time.
