Raglan? House of Blues? Whispering Canyon?

Last minute dining decision. We wanted 11 of us to go to whispering canyon - nothing available at that time. I picked Raglan. Then I thought the menu was a little odd for kids and maybe those who don't get the Irish concept. So then we thought House of Blues without canceling our Raglan resies. However, we can't call House of Blue until 14 days before the day we wish. Should I really really try harder for whispering canyon? or should I put up with Raglan? Or should I pick House of Blues?
We're going 10/02/07.
3 of the 11 of us are kids.

The names may sound odd, but the food is basic (especially for the kids- burgers, chicken, fried shrimp, mac 'n cheese). I would keep what you have, but keep trying for the WCC ,even while you are there. If you can go over to the restaurant and talk to them in person, so much the better. ;)

Have you spoken to everyone? Maybe you can ask for some opinions.

DD17 and I LOVED Raglan. Haven't eaten at the other two, so I can't rellay give you a good comparison, but the atmosphere at Raglan was so neat, the band was fun and the food was really good. I look at it as another Disney attraction, like watching Off Kilter or the Santas in Epcot. Something extra that you don't get in just any restaurant.

If it were me I would do all I could to secure a ressie at Whispering Canyon. It's not just an amazing meal, it's an amazing experience that adults and children alike will enjoy. Having said that, we really liked Raglan Road. Yeah, the food is a little "specialized" but if I remember correctly they have some basic foods for kids. I had the best burger I have ever had in my life at Raglan Road and the Dalkey Duo is amazing too(battered sausages served with an amazing mustard based dipping sauce).

Now that I think about it, Raglan may not be a good choice if you have children in your party. Being an Irish themed pub it tends to draw a much more adult crowd. My wife and I don't drink and we detest smoking and both were abundant at Raglan Road. The irish band playing onstage was great and really helped set the tone of an Irish pub but all of the inebriated folks dancing and acting like idiots on the "dance floor" really made us feel uncomfortable and the cloud of smoke from the people smoking at the front door was just unbearable. We really want to go back because the food was amazing but the smoking and drinking will probably keep us from going back. Pleasure Island in general is just waaaay too "adult" for me though so take my advice with a major grain of salt.

As far as House of Blues goes, we've never been so I can't help ya' there. We really want to go sometime though, especially for the Gospel Brunch(do they still have that?).

Edit- We'll be at "The World" from September 27th-October 5th so maybe we'll see you there!

Just look for the fat bald dude with pastey white skin and a fumanchu mustache! Oh, and glasses...I forgot the glasses.:D

I've never been to Raglan Road so I can't say there.

We've done Whispering Canyon twice and we're going back on our next trip. The "atmosphere" is a hoot! We love to boisterous wait staff and all the antics. With kids, I'd keep trying the WC.

As for HoB, we ate there a few years ago and were sorely disappointed for the cost. Of course, at the time we were living in the greater New Orleans area and were accustomed to the cuisine found in the New Orleans HoB. Completely different from the DTD version. I don't see us ever eating at this restaurant again.

In comparison, WC is much more lively and fun for the younger set as well as the adults. The atmosphere of HOB is better appreciated by people who understand a lot of the history and significance in the displays and decor. Plus, I'd say WC is more affordable and you get more bang for your buck.

I'd keep pushing for the WC. If it came down to RR or HoB, I dunno. Personally, I'd go to RR because I was that disappointed in HoB. :)

Good luck!

HoB - Eaten at the Orlando one twice. Overpriced, bland food with pretty lousy service to boot. It's painfully obvious that this is NOT a Disney controlled restaurant. Avoid it. Seriously.

Whispering Canyon - Great service and atmosphere with so - so food. The thing we really appreciated there was that there was a child at the table next to us with some special needs, and loud noises agitated him terribly. The CM's quickly spread the word thru the restaurant, and while they were as loud and fun as you would expect at the other end, everyone was very quiet and courteous around the family. Staff constantly checked to make sure that he was doing ok, and it made a huge impression on us at the level of concern and service the CM's put out for this one family. We would eat there again just for the atmosphere and service.

Raglan Road - Had the best Fish and Chips of my life there. Great food and great service. The place does get a little more adult oriented later in the evening, try going earlier in the day. I would HIGHLY reccommend the place. We are already planning on dining there on our upcoming trip.

I would agree, the best Fish and Chips Ive had as well. Its where I learned to appreciate the fine flavor of malt vinager. The bread pudding is great as well. Not sure if they still serve it, but you could get a pint of prawns that was served with an awesome lobster bisque.

I would go for Raglan Road, House of Blues is maybe a bit of an odd place and atmosphere for kids and we had an awful experience when we went to Whispering Canyon, the service was awful!

If you go to Raglan Road, after dinner go around the corner to their counter service counterpart and order a candy bar for dessert. It's a breaded and deep fried snickers bar with powdered sugar on top.

We did Raglan Road on my last trip which was just recently and we loved it. I had the fish and chips. My husband had the filet and loved it. They do have a children's menu for the kids no don't worry about that.

We're back and WC it was!

hysterical! We ended up at Whispering Canyon at 7:30 am on 10/3/07 - our last day there before driving to the keys.
We had JEFFRO as a server. He threw straws at us and threw napkins all over the place. My big son asked for a "little" more pop - Jeffro brought him a teenie glass with a straw in it - probably 2 shots of pop in that glass.
Then he turned around and brought him a decent size pop. 1/2 gallon ball jar with a 2 foot straw in it. AND my son drank it all. I saw someone ask for ketchup - they got 10 bottles.
Those people really love their jobs.

Thanks to all of you who suggested we go there. It is definitely worth it!.

Oh - we did not make time for Ragland Road. I was completely exhausted!
