Rafiki's Planet Watch Changing?

Long time lurker but this is my first post. Was at the AK yesterday and and a CM told me that there were big changes in line for Rafiki's planet watch, something to make it "worth the train ride"

Is this real or just something being made up?

It's for real. They're adding a unicorn to the petting zoo.

I hope it's true. I found that area really dull, but maybe it's just me. ANY changes to spruce it up would be fantastic.

Interesting. We always do this while waiting for our Safari fastpass time. Though we do like the animal presentations and character greetings. And recently, after years of doing AK, we finally noticed those little rainforest soundbooth rooms. Padded seats, A/C, lights turned down... we dubbed it the nap room, so it's now one of our faves.

Who can say, but I'd have to think that some sort of unique animal viewing experience, or a ride, or special show of somekind wil be what they add to "make it worth the train ride."

The changes are also mentioned in the Birmbaum guide. How reliable are they? I have no idea, but they are out there...

That train ride was freaking boring. The area wasn't bad but the train ride was long, crowded, boring and Hot when I went at the end of April this year.

I've always thought the veternary part of the area was interesting but I've never actually caught anything happening. I've heard you can see operations being performed. Anyone acutally see one of these?

We've caught birds being operated on a couple of times. Interestingly - they were not AK exhibit animals but rather native Florida birds that had been injured.

Nice to know that the vets will tend to most any critter that needs help

Did someone mention JIMINY CRICKET is at RAFIKI's ANIMAL PLANET!?! In APRIL we saw RAFIKI, MEEKO, POCAHONTUS, and STANLEY for picture taking and autographs.

We actually love the area and have seen the vets performing everything from routine exams to surgery. My DD has made the stuff that they put out in the savannahs for the animals to eat (I think they hang it from the trees for the giraffes), and got to pet the snakes. The CM;s there are very knowledgable and will answer your questions in terms that even my 8 year old could understand. I hope they don't turn it into something else, just upgrade it a little.

My wife and I went to planet watch for the 1st time ever. We've been going for years now to AK. We thought hey why not go up there while we wait for our Fast Pass to the safari. When we got there while waiting for the train the Dream Squad showed up. They handed everyone a Dream Fast Pass for the day. Got to ride everything w/out having to wait for a FP. So don't knock attractions that are less popular. Never know when the Dream Squad might show up.
