Quieter vs. Loud restaurants?

I can't tell how disappointed we were because we were so excited to try.... I know this has been debated and people seem to either love the food or hate it.... The pizza sucked... :(
Wow, that stinks! I'm sorry you had a bad experience and can imagine the disappointment. We love the pizza there, and always eat at Via Napoli every time we go to WDW.

But back to OP's question...
I think the only restaurant where I noticed it was any deal louder than normal was Be Our Guest. I think this is due to the cacophonous nature of the architecture.

Yeah Be Our Guest is insanity and have no desire to go back. Akershus use to be a very relaxing wonderful atmosphere, that went down the tube with the princess mess and so that's out. Some mentioned the Brown Derby but it too is loud when its busy. There really is not a place left that isn't. Maybe Artist Point like others mentioned. California Grill was no different than a food court to us in terms of noise level, everything has been turned over to mass dining instead of fine dining so sadly those days are over.

V&A is very quiet.... Artist point is as well....

But I agree with the mass dining instead of fine dining comment... It ruined CG for me. No dress code....

I didn't read the whole thread. But my vote for loud is Le Cellier. Also, now that the lobby is open to Kona that's loud too, I had a hard time hearing DBF talk to me from across a small table.

Bistro de Paris was so quiet and pleasant. This was a shock as you look out the windows at the chaos below. Have't been there since the refurb and rename.

I remember Bistro de Paris as being quiet as well. I've been back once since the refurb & have put that in the "I'll give it another chance in a few years" category. It was crazy loud the night we had dinner there. Lots of kids running around playing dodge the waiters and yelling at each other compounded by a table that had an infant in full on "fire alarm" mode. The noise reviled football games that I've been too. The food was good, our server was excellent, but the atmosphere left something to be desired.

Because of the outrageous prices and the noise levels, we either eat at the quick service sites or take food with us. Don't mean this to sound negative. We've been visiting the parks for 35 years, so we like WDW. However, the prices are prohibitive on most of the food and overpaying to try and eat in an ear-piercing atmosphere just seems like adding insult to injury.

Without trying to derail the conversation... some of the complaints of noise levels, I think, are probably due to kids being allowed to just go all-out on screaming/squealing/etc at the top of their lungs, and Mom & Dad not wanting to "squelch their vibe" or whatever excuse some parents use these days. I was absolutely not allowed to scream or yell; I could only do so if I was in danger. I can say with utmost confidence that if I did half of the things I see moderately behaved kids at WDW do in restaurants.. my parents would have taken me out.

It's a combination of loud guests in overly "bright" rooms with tile or hardwood flooring and stucco walls that reflect the sound. You know that Disney knows how to dampen the sound, but for some reason choose not to in most dining areas.

Mr. Anderson- I'm in complete agreement with your statement. My parents didn't put up with bad behavior of any sort & I would have been taken outside. That aside, the tile floors in that place don't help. They just bounce noise up.

Excellent point - I guess they're going more for aesthetics than function.

yeah, some of it is because of self center and complete a holes that don't care about anybody but themselves and their bundle of joy from heaven... On the other hand, Flying Fish Café could not be quiet if you had a bunch of monks in there...

I actually blame "free dining" for a lot of this too. I have my doubts that some of the families with unruly kids would be there acting that way if they were paying cash for their meals. IMHO of course.

There is a part of that Im sure, but it boils down to a lack of respect and being a four letter word.
