"Quiet" Restaurant?

I'm in the early stages of planning our vacation for next October. We'll be there over my sister-in-law's birthday and she has requested a "quiet" restaurant for her birthday dinner so we can all talk. There will be eight of us, five adults and my three girls who will be 11, 9, and 7. We will be on the dining plan and won't want anything that would take two table service credits. Any suggestions?

Are you looking for a restaurant in the parks or resorts? Here are some suggestions:

Spice Road Table in Morocco at Epcot
Olivia's at Old Key West
The Plaza at MK
Kona Cafe at Polynesian Village
Grand Floridian Cafe at Grand Floridian
The Plaza is an oasis of calm in MK. It doesn't seat very many people so reservations go fast. But it is very quiet and relaxing.

I agee with many here and suggest the Turf Club at Saratoga Springs. Spent our 1st anniversary dinner there. Very nice views and it was not busy at all. After we walked to DS, when there was not much there. I can guess with all the improvements at DS, the views would be much better. We have also done Boatwrights which in my opinion is a hidden gem. Top 10 best Prime Rib ever. I agree with someone else that Kona Cafe is great, but it may not be quiet. Since there is 8 of you, what about Teppan Edo in Japan? You would have your own station and a little entertainment. Not “quiet” but kind of private since you have your own chef and everything. My family loves it as they do not have anything like it back home.

Other than that I agree with others....great food and quiet atmosphere is best at the resorts.

YES! I echo what other people have said! Try to eat lunch/dinner at off peak times (even at a quick service). DH and I went to Columbia Harbor House at 11 am and quickly grabbed our meals and a table by the windows! It wasn't loud but by the time we were done, ALL the tables were taken and there were lines out the door (over fall break). It was about 12:30 then. So YES, make sure to use those Off-peak hours. The nice thing about the reservation system is that there's a huge window (like 3-4 hours) for each meal, so you can book them early or late instead of at peak times. Good Luck!!:p:D

I'll give another vote for the Wave. I've always found it to be a very quiet and relaxing experience. It's rarely very busy and has great service and food. The booths around the bar are particularly private and quiet.

My mom and her friend went to The Wave in October and said it was one of their favorite restaurants! They loved the quiet, service and thought the food was incredible!!

The best way to get a quite meal is to avoid eating during peak hours. We've had quiet meals at a decent number of places using that strategy. If you're at the Magic Kingdom, the Skipper Canteen can be that way if you sit in the Library (SEA Room). In general, though, I think that eating at the high-end spots in the resorts is the way to go.
