We are driving our car. I've heard horror stories of people getting lost because of it being difficult to navigate around Disney. What are your thoughts?

Disney is super easy to navigate once you get used to it. The easiest ways is to think of it in "Zones" .

CSR is in the Animal Kingdom Zone Turn left at the entrance to get to World Drive follow the signs to Magic Kingdom. Once you get to the Magic Kingdom parking toll booth stay as far right as you are allowed and when you get up to the booth if the person is still there tell them you has a reservation for Ohana. You will go straight until you see a traffic light turn left at Seven Seas Dr. You will pass the TTC and the Polynesian Sign will be on the right after some speed bumps.

Leaving Poly you will either exit out of 7 Seas(Turn Right Then turn Left) or Floridan Way(Turn Left). Once you do this you will pass the MK parking lot, pass the gas station, and you will merge back onto World Drive. From here you will want to follow back to the Animal Kingdom Area and then to CSR. I can make a map if you need one.

I have used Disney transportation for EVERY trip except for the last one. We had a trip in Boca Raton visiting family and then drove to Disney for another trip and just kept the car. I must say that I did not miss the bus. No waiting, no crowds, no standing and with little ones and it was so much easier at the end of the evening to carry a sleeping child from a car seat right into bed. It was nice to use. We also didn't have to lug the stroller in and out of a bus and leave it in our resort. We explored more, went to Wide World of Sports and went to DTD just to pick up one item and it was a piece of cake. The number one reason why we liked the car better~~~~not having to catch the DME THREE hours before our flight home and sit in an airport for so long. I think when we go in August we will be renting a car.

If it isn't too much trouble, a map would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance :)

Then this is a no brainer... USE THE CAR! for this and all other getting around WDW. We always have our car and use it to go everywhere around WDW. I don't get why people have their car at WDW and refuse to use it! If you can read a sign... you will be able to get back to the resort. Do you ever travel outside of your town and have to follow the highway signs???? Follow the signs for Blizzard Beach and CSR is right across the street from it.(not sure if CSR is on the signs on the main roads)

So you tell me to follow the signs, then follow up with (not sure if CSR is on the signs).... This uncertainty is one reason why we choose the transportation system. Plus, it adds to the magic for my girls. They ride in my car ALL the time.

I am very good with directions, but I, unlike others here do have a problem getting back to our resort sometimes. Once I've driven it correctly once, then it's easy, but that first time can be a problem. The main thing is the signs that say turn at the next right. They do not mean the one around the curve or a block or so away, they mean the one after that; therefore, the next right. If the signs were closer to the first turn, it would make sense, but that's not the way it is. When I do get confused, I simply follow the signs to DTD and get back to the resort from there. It's much easier to get anywhere from there.

Thanks! The last thing that I want to do while I'm at WDW is get into an argument about directions with my husband :)

Drive or take a cab.

Even if you get very lost, there is always a sign that says "All Guest Areas" before you leave the WDW property.

It just isn't that hard. (Ed: gave directions to AKL. OP not going to AKL.)

They made it easy to navigate on purpose. There are signs everywhere for a reason. It is possible to get lost, but you can always get back on track. The roads are set up that way.

There are no waits when leaving the parking lot. No traffic to worry about. People always say that they drive because they hate being in the traffic jams when the parks close, but they're lying. No jams. It is not like leaving a ball game or concert. You just get in your car and drive away like you do at the grocery store or the mall.

Stop worrying. It isn't hard. :)

If you'd have read it fully... you would see I said follow the signs for Blizzard Beach and CSR is across the road from it. Not all resorts are on every sign(until you get closer to them), but the parks and waterparks are.

Study a map for a few days prior to your trip... not that hard at all and you will enjoy how much easier using your car is to get around.

Navigating around disney is not that hard if you have a co pilot or gps or you studied your map real well before you start pulling out of the parking lot. I LOVE having a car versus total reliance on disney transportation.. I am actually only 15 minutes late for ressies instead of 45 when I have a car. I have ended up on some road known as the disney boondocks... but only twice. If you have a car you can just drive to the POLY and enjoy free parking and drive back to CSR when your dinner is over.

Well you have a point, our first time to the world we were at POP, we had drove rather than flown into Orlando and kids still wanted to ride bus all the time.. me I drove to POLY , parked in their parking lot and rode the monorail to MK because that is the only park I visited on the first trip. Kids were ok with driving to POLY to ride monorail but they still wanted to ride that darn bus...
Now we have been enough times with no car they aren't as eager for the bus rides...on the other hand if we fly I don't rent a car, we just use disney transportation...it works okay I am just late more for everything we scheduled and we always end up hiring a cab instead of using DME to get back to the airport for the flight home.

These are the kind of signs we are talking about, main parts of the resort are broken up into these areas and then break down into smaller parts once you get inside of the area.
