Sorry, I haven't been on WDWMAGIC in a while. I'm a little behind on things. My favorite moderate resort is Port Orleans: French Quarter. Last I heard it was still closed. Does anybody know if French Quarter is open yet??? If not, when will it be? Thanks for taking the time to read my question.

Absolutely Outlaw, no problem. POFQ is definitely still closed at the moment. I Heard they would be reopening around Easter, but that was from a CM at PO Riverside. I Am not sure how reliable that is. Hope this helps! Belle

Id call Disney to find out for sure. Have you ever stayed at Riveside? If not that is certainly an option. The good thing about Riverside is that if you stay in PO on eiterh side you can use the amenities of both resorts. I really like Riverside alot. A relaxed, laid back southern feel to the whole place. Not to mention a GREAT restaurant call Boatwrights. If you cvcant get FQ I say go for Riverside! Belle

As Belle mentioned get in at Riverside if you can. Not sure if you have ever stayed there or not. We have stayed at both Port Orleans French Qtr and Rverside when it was called Dixie Landings. I prefered Dixed Landings because it is so relaxing and very open.
In fact about a month ago I convinced my wife to go to WDW at the end of this January. Becasue it was such short notice she wanted to be tight on money and the only way I could convince her was to stay at the Pop Century because of price. Well it took a while but I convinced her to upgrade. We are now staying at Riverside. I am so excited. I mean, I would still have been happy staying at Pop because no matter what it is still Disney. But I really wanted Dixie. In fact Belle was the one who made me really want to switch. She is so pro Dixie as am I that all of her posts that have been in responses to my questions have reminded me of Dixie Landings and I had to make the push. (thanks Belle ).

Hey there Mr Toad!! I hope I Am not the cause of any marital difficulties!!! I am staying at Pop myself in late February, but once the weather gets warmer, I will want Dixie or the Coronado for the pools and atmosphere. When I went in December it was downright COLD!!! I didnt spend much time outside although there were still people in the quiet and main pools in Riverside!!! Not my thing, but it has to be REALLY warm for me to go in the pool in any event.
Pop is gonna be an interesting change, but Invero ( Tyler) assures me that it is a really cool resort. I cant wait to go back to Disney!! Belle

No don't worry no difficulties. I just had to make tons of (as cogsworth would say) promises I don't intend to keep. I will try to keep them if I know what is good for me though.
I had heard good things about Pop as well, I just really love Dixie Landings and we did stay at the All Star Sports for the first 2 nights on our last trip and hated it. I was just concerned of having this feeling when I am there that I wish I was in Dixie. For the extra $400+ I figured I would have no worries. I actually think my daughter would have loved Pop but, if we are luck and we catch a few warm days she will love Ol' Man Island at Dixie.
But regardless, I could sleep anywhere at WDW and be happier than I would be on any other vacation.

I cant say that I disagree with you!! My usual travel buddy is my friend Richie. I dont think he realized that Pop was on the same level as the All Stars so certain things would be missing, such as a sit down restaurant for breakfast ( he doesnt do food courts well), multiple pool areas for peace & quiet ( not an issue becuase of time of year) etc. I am a firm believer in that you should ALWAYS go for what will make you happy though. A little change is OK and I will appreciate Dixie more when I get back there later on this year!!! Did you see we are planning for another Forum member meet & Greet later on this year? Please try to get there if you can!!! It is really cool to put a face with the name!! Belle

I can say that after spending a couple of days at the All Star Sports, we did appreciate Dixie that much more. Not to say the All Stars are bad, just not the same. I really do like peace and quite. At the All Star Sports we had cheerleaders there and it was loud. One thing I kept pointing out to my wife was the end our upcoming trip, the cheerleaders were to be at WDW. I had read that there is a good chance they might be at Pop because it is so close to Disney's Wide World of Sports. I could not bear it again.
I did see Pam's post about another meet and greet. I really would like to go, but we can't afford to go multiple times a year. As it is, we are going to try to do once a year if we can but am unsure if we can. I would love to do the meet and greet because I would like to put the faces with the names but I just don't think it is in the cards. But who knows, we could become independently rich at any moment. :animwink:

I had heard that the swarms of cheerleaders, bands, sports teams etc are all going to remain at the All Star complex, however I still think we are going to have more kids in Pop than at any of the Moderates. Ill let you know when I get back!!
As far as the meet sorry you wont be able to make it, however Im sure we will be doing more of these so maybe at some point in the future you can join us! Besides I couldnt just not let you know about it now could I? That would be rude and I am not that way usually!! Belle
