Quick Help for MK

Hey guys (n gals),

I am going to MK next week. Any advice on how to be the first one to open the park? We will be staying at the Contemp Hotel...and it will be my daughters B-Day. This will be the first time we will be going alone just us two. Daddy - Daughter trip.

The Magic Kingdom usually opens at 9am, unless there are EMH that morning, so it would open at 8am to resort guests. If you don't have a breakfast reservation or a tour booked, they won't let you past the train station until after the opening show thing, which ends at 9. I didn't spend alot of time on the outside of the train station when we had a tour at 9am last May, but there were some people already there, waiting outside the train station, when we got there around 8:30. (They let you thru the turnstyles, but not thru the trainstation to Main Street.) I think the opening show thing starts about 10 minutes before the park opens. From the Contemporary, you can either take the monorail over, or there's a walkway over as well, I feel like they take about the same amount of time.

I think the OP was referring to how you get chosen to be the "Family of the Day" that gets to participate in the park opening ceremony...

If that's the case, it's entirely random. Best bet would be to just get there as early as you can, but as with the lottery, your chances are just as good as anyone else's who's also there at the time they pick the family.
