Made a quick trip over to DHS today. Nothing major to report.
Walls around the "sorcerer hat".
American Idol in public preview.
National Dance Team competition at Indiana Jones.
Sounds Dangerous not open.
No Fantasmic (I still hate there is no finale for DHS) :(
Backstage Tour down for refurb.
Still saw some christmas napkins :fork: and Million Dreams bags, etc. But at least they had the new red Celebrate Cups.
Got to go on TSM 3 times in a row since it was late and lines where running down (only 15 minute wait last time we rode).

So on to the pics:

Some dance team action at Indiana Jones:

And the american idol pics...but first at little bit of info from a passholder preview that I can remember. The contestants wear rfid tags, and the spotlights and un-manned cameras follow the rfid tags...pretty awesome. All lights are LEDs. Sounds system sounds great. There is still paper over the center stage, most likely will be removed to reveal plexiglass floor with lights underneath.

It isnt a major miss in my opinion. Unless you are a huge AI fan or just truly enjoy listening to people you dont know sing it isnt a msut see. I dont plan on returning unless it is to escape the FL heat. Also it is a lot like the show. Three people sing a song and get judged by people doing their best to imitate Paula Randy and Simon.

Good update!

Just to note, Not all the lights at American Idol are LED, but it does feature quite a few LED fixtures, more than most shows.

I know that! I just want to see it!

HA HA I was there yesterday too :)

First off let me just say that I am not much of a fan of american idol. I think I have watched only one of the seasons all the way through and have just seen some episodes here and there.... I also think it confuses guests as to the whole...well isn't this on FOX? Does Disney own FOX? I don't get it...thing.

I went to the 4:00 show and the 7:00 Finally too see what it was like. We had a girl host and warm up guy at the 4:00 and then at the 7:00 we had a guy host (he was cute ...very Richard Alpert from 'Lost' HA HA) and a different warm up guy. We also had different Judges...well mostly. We had 2 girls and Phil aka "Simon" at the 4:00 and (as in the photos above) we had a "Randy", "Paula" and Phil once again playing "Simon" at the 7:00.

The shows were good, but there was some overlapping...Jokes and what not...they need to fix that. We did get to fill out a survey after so let's hope they take into account our comments...the Jordin Sparks song at the Day Shows for one...yeah...it's gotta go. It is 100% the chesse of the attraction. It's basiclly an ad for Disney's Hollywood Studios while you are IN Disney's Hollywood Studios.

I think our performers at the 4:00 were all great...It was hard to pick just one. They had great range and did a wonderful job. In my opinion the first three I saw should have all made it to the end after seeing the other winners throughout the rest of the day. If you CAN only do one or only WANT to do one show ...go to the finally it is much more fun to see more singers. It was great to see a new show...they just have to make sure they don't use the same jokes. More than likely guests will go to one day show and the Final Show. Just be sure to mix it up Disney :)

It looks really nice.

For those of you who have seen some of the shows, did you find all of the contestants reasonably talented and easy to listen to? That is the one thing I fear most about the attraction, is that on some of the shows, perhaps during the less busy and therefore less auditioned days, you will get a few people through who will be noticeably hard to listen to. And I say that not in a "I can't stand listening to bad singers" way as much as a "I feel awkward watching a less than stellar singer perform in front of a big audience" way. Not to mention a big audience made up of vacationing families with children who probably have fastpasses for Toy Story Mania in their pockets. Its a strange merging of 2 worlds.

Besides that hurdle, the show looks like it could be a fun thing to see each trip.

I thought the finale was worth it. And if you're looking for a nice place to sit down and relax in the A/C...then the 30 minute shows during the day are nice to check out.

Personally, I don't see longevity in this attraction at all. It relies on the wrong elements to make this a long-standing attraction (I give it 2 years max).

That was my first thought when I first found out about this attraction. I just don't know how they justify the cost to create such an attraction when it doesn't seem as though it has a major "staying power." I haven't seen this yet, so I really can't make any more of a judgement on it than just what has been reported here. I'm not excited to go and see this. If we run out of things to do, it might make it on the list. Time will tell...
