Quick DHS and F&W Report

First, if you are worried about the crowds at Epcot during F&W, don't. Go and have fun. Several posters on other sites warned of Level-8 crowds (1-10 scale) at all parks due to the 3-day weekend and F&W. I gave it a 4-5.

Saturday DHS - Toy Story made it up to a 120 minute wait. It was an EMH morning and the Fast Pass time was up to 1400 by 0900. By the time we were eligible for a new FP, they were gone. Our FP ride skipped 2 screens but the CMs let us go again without getting back in line. ToT was about 15 minutes and RnR about 30 minutes. Star Tours was walk-on.

Sunday Epcot - Ran as usual to Soarin', got a 1000 FP then got right in via stand-by. I think the stand-by was only 50 minutes after our 1000 FP. TT seemed to be up and down all day. We walked right on after a re-start then got stuck for 15 minutes when it crashed again. We were second in line for the barrier. The car ahead of us was probably shocked when they restarted towards the barrier without any warning! M:S was about 15 minutes each side.

I didn't see any ride times after 1400 because we spent the rest of the day at F&W. We started at Mexico intending to "Drink Around the World" but decided to reel it back because it was so durn hot. The tequila bar was a madhouse and, believe it or not, the line for the silly boat ride was way too long. I wanted a newbie in our group to see it but no go. So we went outside for a Rita.

We stopped at Yakitori for the Japanese Curry and a Kirin. They fill the bowl half white rice and half curry, just like in anime! Oishii! 美味しい

The crowds were very manageable. Just enough to give it a street party atmosphere but not enough where you couldn't move, get to a booth, or watch any of the entertainment. There was no problem getting a seat at the Sister Hazel show. Didn't know they were from Gainesville. Way too many Gator fans there. ;) No problem getting a good view of the fireworks either.

So don't fear F&W. Go and have fun. Try some new food & drink. BTW, I was 5/11 for "Drink Around the World" (DAtW?) Our winner was 6/11 but I disputed the Carlsberg at Norway. :D

Now for the countdown to BLT in January! :sohappy:

I was at F&W during the afternoon yesterday as well. Crowds were very light, however I'm pretty sure this is due to the fact that it was very hot out and many locals probably decided to wait until later in the evening or go another weekend. I didn't stay past about 4:00PM in WS to find out.

I liked the simplifed food and wine guides this year, much easier to read quickly, though less detail about things than other years.

Other than that, 27 locations, some awesome things came back from last year. I noticed a lot less extra-cirricular stuff this year than the past few years, no special outdoor exhibit areas like in years past (like the new orleans themed area, or the peach special exhibit, etc., but I honestly didn't miss them much.

I'm guessing the TSMM wait time was overstated. This seems to always be the case.

Hopefully Star Tours 2.0 eats into the demand for TSMM, but I think they try to curb the wait in the mean time by overstating it.

There are a lot more pay for extra curricular activities this year. The $8 culinary and wine/spirit seminars used to be free. IMO the $8 really improves the seminars because it lets you enjoy the festival and gives you appointments to almost guarantee to let you visit the things you want.
However the best bargain is the Food and Wine Pairing Saturday events at Tutto Italia. I can't think of anyone walking out of Tutto Italia after a 4 course meal and only paying $55! Monday is at Tokyo Dining and Tuesdays are held at Restaurant Marrakesh.

We were in WS from 1400 to closing. Never got too bad. I wonder if all the 'it will be too crowded' posts I found chased people away.
