Quick DCL question

I did want to ask 2 quick questions.
1. Has anyone had any issues with Disney and airfare? It was a nightmare with them today and nothing we have experienced in our trips to WDW.
2. Most importantly, do you all bring a lot of extra spending cash with you? I know the meals are included, but am I correct in my assumption that gratuity is extra?

Thanks

I have not. I'm sorry you did!
Your main gratuities are extra but they will be charged to your onboard account. We bring cash for the ports and tips for porters, but that's about it.

Thank you for the quick reply

The air was a nightmare. We ended up booking on ourown and saving $600 and bothFlights are non stop.

I haven't been ona cruise since 1990. Didn't know everything on board was all inclusive until recently. Woohoo!

Keep in mind that any alcoholic drink is not inclusive, also if you order a soda from one of the bars onboard. Soda is free in the dining rooms and from the drink station. Besides that spa and excursions and obviously any shopping is included.

Some people say that the thought behind the Disney Dining Plan at WDW is to introduce the cruise line model to the theme parks. But on the cruise you will be able to find far more food for free than from a Dining Plan! My tip would be to go and find the little cakes at Cove Cafe in the afternoon!

This is good info. Thank you.

So in essence, most things are included except for specific purchases (on board shopping for gifts, alcohol, etc)?

Another thing that is not included is packaged candy and popcorn at the theatre. But I think that's about it. Once you have factored in gratuities you could not spend anything more and still have a great time.

Thats great....glad to hear that most everything is included. Is there an opportunity to pay for gratuities in cash?

You do have to set up an onboard credit. Normally this is done by using a credit card. I think you can also give the cash, but not sure how this works. You can prepay your gratuities by adding money to your onboard account before you sail.

does anyone find it weird that you have to pay for soda from the bar or room service but its offered free of charge in the dinning rooms and at the drink stations. Its soda!! should be free no matter where i get it from

I'm cruising in less than two weeks. Tell me about these cakes.

It's because they're served as cans from room service. It is silly, but I can see how cans cost Disney a lot more money than the taps.

Here is a picture of the ones I had on my cruise - at the Outlook Cafe on the Wonder. They had the same downstairs in the Cove Cafe as well, so I am sure all the ships have them:

I also loved going there for a glass of wine and some olives and cheese on the day I skipped the show!

Thanks. I guess I need to stop poking fun of people who take pics of their food. ;)

Yes, you better stop doing this! We just document things to provide a service to others! :geek:

Enjoy your cake on the cruise! I wish I were on a DCL ship in less than two weeks!
