Could you elaborate? (Count me in the replace-the-speedway crowd.)
Regardless of whether we like the attraction or not, kids love it and it belongs in WDW. For many kids, the Tomorrowland Speed way is the first car the will ever drive. I would love to see the attraction updated but calling for it outright removal is, IMHO, rather narrow minded. Just because you or I do not like a particular attraction does not make it a bad attraction.

I do not get why they have not changed the Speedway yet....KEEP it but theme it to CARS. At least that would Disney-it up a little plus actually make it look really good. They would just have to make new vehicles based on the films characters and then just add some little Radiator Springs details. Wouldn't be a big job I would assume and a simple solution to make this so much better and more well suited for the park.

I'm of the school of thought that says make the attractions unique, and NOT based on a Disney movie. I'd much rather see a unique design based on future travel. Get rid of the gas powered cars and find a way to electrify them. You would just need to design the cars to be able to run long enough off of a change to be able to handle the daily grind. The battery technology has to be getting close to being capable of doing that.

I see. Well, I'm not saying they should get rid of the Speedway because I personally can drive a real car and that's better. I love attractions that my daughter loves, because she loves them. The Boneyard, for example. Great.

To elaborate: a) I don't think Speedway is really all that much fun, even for little ones (judging by my kid, your experience may differ), and b) I don't think the Speedway is up to par, WDW-wise. There are similar driving attractions at regional parks all over the country (and world, for all I know). Last time we went on TS, we waited a good while for the attraction in the heat, went around the track with my daughter not able to drive (54" height requirement, rather tall for a non-thrilling attraction, no?) and then we got in a traffic jam of sorts at the end and sat there waiting to exit (and it was WAY hot on the track). I continue to expect attractions of some distinction at WDW (yes, you may have choked on your coffee reading that), even if they're not all Haunted Mansions.

And it's on a huge plot of land either in TL or potentially repurposed/annexed into FL! Crikey, what an opportunity!

I wonder what TS replacement plans lurk in desk drawers/filing cabinets/hard drives of imagineers. I have trouble imagining the possible replacement of TS doesn't come up among them, like, all the time.

Kids can actually drive at 32" (the height of your average 3 year old) but they must be accompanied by an adult. My youngest took her first lap just before she turned 4. She drove by herself for her first time just a couple of weeks ago at 11.

Like I said before, there is no question that the attraction needs an up date. I would love to see it get electric cars and a much more futuristic overlay. If we have to attach a movie franchise to it, I would not mind seeing Tron be that franchise.

I don't hate it, I just feel like it shouldn't be there anymore. It's such a noisy, smelly ride that takes up a ton of space that could be used for better things.

oh, i understand in that case. personally i do agree with you, it's just what could they replace it with? it's been there for so long that at this point it doesn't even matter whether people love/like it or not. there just doesn't seem to be anything to take its place. and a Tron version seems a bit more difficult and very expensive to do which adds on to everything else i'd assume

I think they're going to have to do something with the race track though, between all the new scenery going into Fantasyland and the stuff in the remodeled Tomorrowland, the race track is going to start looking even more dated than it is now.

It could just be something like putting the planets on top of the Astro Orbiter, even if you've never rode the Orbiter, it's still a great visual/landmark, and since there's a path behind the race track and a pretty good view of it from the people mover, adding some scenery to would be a great addition even if you never got in one of the race cars

Fair enough. I'd be in favor of a switch to electric cars (no franchise overlay needed IMO). Perhaps the power could come from solar panels and wind turbines right there on site. Could be fun.

The cars in Hong Kong are electric, I guess they're golf cart engines in stead of go-karts, and originally they had on board speakers that made these funny "Jetsons-style" sound effects when you hit the accelerator, but I don't think the still have the sound effects any more
