questions/updates from trip

i visited wdw last week, everything was great. however i have some questions..

on muppet vision 3d, there is something in the back of the theatre and it is backwards. it is green letters and it says the lines of the characters in the video. if you turn around, it is in the far left side. does anybody know what this is/what its for?

in animal kingdom, i noticed a huge empty piece of water between the construction for everest and the rest of the park. does anybody know if anything can go in that area?

for pirates of the caribbean, the ride seems to randomly just end. does anybody know why or if it will change soon?

many things werent working in splash mountain.
philharmagic was great and the smell was working
space mountain had a 120 minute wait for parts of the day. splash got up to 110 and big thunder got up to 75.
mission space had a 45 minute wait 15 minutes after the park opened. test track had a 60 minute wait in 20 minutes. it seems like the entire park rushes to these two attractions.
the trip went great and we had a lot of fun. all construction seems to be going well and the two that seemed that work was being done to them were the stunt show and everest.

I've noticed that at Muppet Vision. I think it's just the projector in the control room though.

Pirates has always ended like that. They ramsack the city and get their loot and now they're happy. They'll never change it (hopefully)

Glad you had a good time!!

More good planning & research by Disney :hammer: . See also MGM Studios : TOT and RNR, also, MK : Splash Mountain and Big Thunder. Lets see how many guests we can cram into a small corner of each of the parks

its text for the deaf.. they sit in special seats so they can see the text(dialog) in a mirror or something..

Yep. It's a closed captioning system for the hearing impaired.

The water at AK will be themed at a later time. It's just going to be a pretty water feature area.

Pirates...always ended that way...always will.

oochr1soo and Lee are right - its close captioning (subtitles) for the deaf. If you look, a lot of theatre attractions have it (and in DLP). So not to distract the non impaired members of the audience, it is placed behind everyone, and is correctly displayed when viewed in a mirror - i`m not sure if the user wears special glasses to partly reflect whats behind them, or if they hold a discreet mirror up...

AkEverestAK - when you say PotC randomly ends, do you mean the storyline seems to just finish withno explanation? This was an error in design - WDWs Pirates ride was rushed through from design to opening in less than 2 years. As documented elsewhere, WDW wasn`t originally going to have PotC - a similar ride with a western theme was to be part of `Western River Expedition` which was to be built where Big Thunder (itself originally planned as part of WRE) and Splash are today. However, so many guests complained about the missing PotC that Disney mothballed WRE and built PotC instead. In doing so, they rushed the design (as later admitted by WDI), and one of the mistakes was the storyline dosn`t flow very well or have a true ending. Disneyland Paris`s PotC rectified this in spectacular fashion - they wern`t going to get it wrong again! I don`t know about TDLs PotC - other than they wanted a carbon copy of Floridas MK, and its rides (but the outside looks like the DL verison).

thanks

thanks for all the updates! more things i noticed from my trip:

soarin seems so far away from the land pavillion, are they going to connect the two and make that the queue? i didnt realize how large the building really was until i saw it in person.
ive been on POTC many many times, but this trip was when i finally noticed the ending being poor. i know that once you get off the ride, the boats go uphill. in DL, you actually go uphill on the ride. i think wdw needs a version where you have a little more drops and hills, like DL's.
i was wondering why philharmagic, its tough to be a bug, hista, and other 3d shows dont have the thing that muppet vision has. or do they? i cant seem to find them.

The system is actually called REFLECTIVE CAPTIONING. Users can can request the special mirror that comes on a gooseneck mic stand. That is all that is required. Most shows at WDW have this system (impressions de france, american adventure, fantasmic, philharmagic, tough to be a bug, muppets, etc.)

Not our fault everyone runs to the most popular attractions in the park... If guests planned better, they would wait to ride those when there wasnt a line. Which does happen, just not 1 hour after park open.

Besides, an hour wait at TT isnt bad. When it starts getting over 140 minutes, it starts getting ugly in FW East.

As I recall, that area was used on the river boat attraction that they had when the park first opened. We waited 40 minutes for that horrible ride early in the morning. I thought the ride was awful as I was riding it, but I thought once we got to that huge area it would be better. Nothing special took place. Talk about being let-down.

I must disagree, this is the worst ride ever:

Bah to that. Have you seen the distances between the launches at AK? You could walk between them in under 5 minutes. What an awful idea. Awful awful. When you ride the friendship boats at epcot, you can tell its strictly for transportation because theres only water to see, and the distance to the other side is considerable. In AK you expect more beacuse its narrow and more like a jungle. Ugh. Can you tell I hated that ride?

Thanks for that. I often wondered gow the reflection is lined up.

Bill - LOL!

AkEverestAK - I think you will find the new Soarin` building is mainly the show building - there are 2 Omnimax theatres in there, plus the motion bases and accociated framework/access ramps etc. Not having been to DCA I can`t speculate further, but I assume there is only limited queue space available in the building itself. It will be joined to the backside of the old KK/FR theatre (anyone know exactly how/where?) and this is where the main queue/preshow will be. Its interesting how much space they propose on using for queueing and the preshow - the old Food Rocks corridor, holding area, theatre space AND link tunnel... I wonder where the new holding areas will be... will they allow queing in the link tunnel or not (see Space Mountain) and if they plan on utilising any of the theatre as a preshow (put in a big screen like GMR) or just have the biggest switchback area in WDW!!)

I Imagine they'll totally rip out the back of the KK Theater for the connection to Soarin. Though I could be wrong...

do you think soarin will have a fastpass?
the one in dca has.
also, i never see the point to having a fastpass for the haunted mansion. i always go during the busiest time of the year and it only has about a 20 minute wait. this is vs. spaceship earth, which had a 35 minute wait last week w/out fastpass. maybe disney should make every ride fastpass, similar to universal - every attraction there (including the bad ones) has express.
