Hi friends!
As some of you may know I will be heading to the World for my Birthday from the 19-27 Sept. and I have a couple of questions for those of you who have gone around the same time since I usually go in May or for the Holiday's.

1) What is the weather like?

2) How hot is it usually?

3) I can't remember are bandanna's allowed to be worn in the parks?

4) Since Sept. tends to have free dining how are the crowds?

5) I know that the Food & Wine Festival starts on the 27th (the day I leave) but I have heard that there may be a soft opening. Can anyone confirm this and if so what day could I expect this to be happening?

Thank you for any help you can give me! And if there is anything else you think I may want to know please feel free to share it

The weather will be warm but humidity wont be as high as in the summer. The resorts will have high occupancy because of FD, but the parks will have reasonable crowds. Epcot will have lots of closed up booths ready for F&W and wont be at its prettiest. I'm a Disney travel agent and haven't heard yet if there will be a soft opening. For your bandana, do you mean can a man wear it on his head?? As long as there arent offensive words or images, then you can. Have a great birthday trip!

I live in SW Florida and it is still hot here. Expect highs in the low 90's and a good bit of humidity. We also still get afternoon rain due to the high temps. Cold fronts don't usually reach this far south until October. Park levels should be much better by then b/c everyone is back to school. As long as you don't wear your gang member bandana I thnk your fine! Have a great trip.

Way way back in 2010 we went during the end of September and the crowds were really manageable. We also had free dining back then. The one thing I definitely remember is how hot it was. I remember heading to WS in Epcot and they had a pipe with mist coming out, I just stood there getting soaked. I don't believe our whole trip was that hot just that particular day.

1) What is the weather like? There's a whole lot of Summer left in mid-September. Highs in the high 80's or low 90's, depending on the year. Evening lows in the 70's, depending on the year.

2) How hot is it usually? See answer to #1. I realize that September usually brings a noticeable drop in temperatures "up North", but not nearly as much in Central Florida.

3) I can't remember are bandanna's allowed to be worn in the parks? Bandanas, bananas, they don't care what you wear on your head as long as it's not offensive.

4) Since Sept. tends to have free dining how are the crowds? Not too bad. Remember, school is back in session.

5) I know that the Food & Wine Festival starts on the 27th (the day I leave) but I have heard that there may be a soft opening. Can anyone confirm this and if so what day could I expect this to be happening? I have no idea. I like food, but I don't drink wine, so I'm halfhearted in my interest.

We went early Sept 2010 and late Sept 2012...both trips hot 90-100 and very humid.

In 2012 The Food and Wine Festival did have a "soft" opening the day before the official opening. There was nothing to indicate it was going to happen a CM let us know earlier in the week.

Both time the crowds weren't much at all, except the evening of the opening of the F&W Festival. It sure brought in the locals after 5'ish. If you have DDP, snack credits can be used to purchase food at the Festival.

1) What is the weather like? The weather is very hot and humid. I start sweating the second I step outside. The humidity will build up and it will rain periodically. Sometimes it will rain all day, but for the most part, it will rain for a couple of hours in the afternoon.

2) How hot is it usually? It is the hottest you will ever be. Even if it says 80s or 90s, it will feel like a sauna

3) I can't remember are bandanna's allowed to be worn in the parks? I'm not sure, but I googled and most people said yes, it was allowed.

4) Since Sept. tends to have free dining how are the crowds? Crowds are light, but will get a bit heavier towards the end of your trip because of the food and wine festival.

5) I know that the Food & Wine Festival starts on the 27th (the day I leave) but I have heard that there may be a soft opening. Can anyone confirm this and if so what day could I expect this to be happening? In 2011 there was a soft opening the day before the actual start date.

Sometimes bandanas aren't allowed to be worn in places because of gang connections and symbolism. I've seen people with them at WDW though.
On our last trip in December a bus driver gave my dd a pirate skull pink bandana (a brand new one with tags) because he didnt have any trading cards to give her. She thought that was awesome.
