Has anyone had a 'Picnic in the Park' at Animal Kingdom before? If so, how was the food and how was the pricing?

We did "Picnic in the Park" last September. There were three of us (Me, My wife and son) but we only did the meal for two. We were on the DDP so we used our CS credits for it.

We had the Rotisserie Chicken w/ Macaroni and Cheese, Brownie and Rice Krispie Treat.

The Chicken was awesome. Macaroni and the desserts were good as well. It came in a green Animal Kingdom tote bag, which we still have to this day. We use it for beach things now.

I would say it is worth it. Just find the right place to sit down and enjoy.

I'll agree. We tried it last year and loved it. Had basically the same thing as the poster above.

We'll be doing it again this year. It's one of the best value on property, they really do give you a lot of food.

Got this from Deb's All Ears website:

As of November 29, 2009 - Several changes have been made to the Picnic in the Park process and offerings. Guests will be able to order their picnic at Guest Relations until 2:30 p.m. daily, as well as at the Picnic in the Park podium located outside Island Mercantile.

Tier 1 picnics will only be available for pick-up from DinoBites, located near Restaurantosaurus.

Tier 2 picnics will offer rotisserie chicken and will continue to be picked up from the Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery, near Tusker House Restaurant.

Guests can also put together a "grab 'n go" bag at Beastly Bazaar, with their choice of sandwiches, individual bags of potato chips, desserts and water.

We had this too: the chicken, mac-n-cheese, brownie and water bottles. Chicken was very flavorful and juicy. It was a nice change of pace.

It looks like All Ears information is a bit out of date. As of May of this year Picnic in the Park has been moved to the grab and go section of the Beastly Bazaar.

I learned alot from this post. Maybe someone can answer a few followup questions:
Does anyone know which 10 pieces come in the Meal for 5 Rotisserie chicken? Is it half light/half dark meat?
Also, if we have the meal plan and want to order a Meal for 5 even though 1 of the guests is a child, does that make a difference in what you can get?
Finally, if you wanted to do the grab-and-go option, how would that affect the amount and types of food that 5 people could get?

Thanks all!

Well, darn. We were going to try it this year since Flametree BBQ will be closed while we are there. But since it is out of business, we'll hit our "secret" place for lunch (Tamu Tamu walkup window in Africa for Tuna Wrap).
