Question regarding downloaded videos and playing them

Hello all...I just discovered Disney-Central on mIRC today, and have downloaded Tarzan Rocks! and Festival of the Lion King (both avi files). When I play them in DivX, Tarzan stops playing at after two minutes, and FotLK after 9 seconds. I know they have downloaded completely because I sat for the two+ hour duration...lol. Is there anyway to fix this problem? I read somewhere to download ffdshow and I did that, but it still doesn't seem to work. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

try analyzing the file with gspot ( :drevil: )
this program helps you to find out what codec an avi file uses and if it's installed on your pc ...

you can get it from here

Hi, KevieKev! Welcome!

When you say stopped playing, do you mean the player you use stopped, or it carried on playing but with a black screen? Double check the filesize you have corresponds with that listed on Disney Central. Remember, on DC, if your request is queued it may take 2 hours (or more) before the download starts.

The player screen went black, and went to it's default screen it shows when you start the program up. Even though it shows the movie is about 30 minutes long, it just doesn't get pass the two minutes on Tarzan Rocks, and I am dying over here! This is my favorite show and I want to be able to watch it! LOL! I deleted it, and downloaded it again with the same problem. (I made sure it was completely downloaded too)

I don't know much about Disney-Central yet...Once I got on the channel, I typed "!video" and then selected the only Tarzan Rocks! file to download. Is there something else I need to do? I am kinda lost...lol. If the file wasn't an AVI file, I might have better luck, because the files I have downloaded that aren't AVI seem to work fine.

Can you post the exact name of the file?
Can you post the exact file size as revealed in Windows Explorer?

Those will help.

If it has (RU42) somewhere in the file name then it is one of mine. It would have been created with DivX - I think I did those in 3.1 but it may have also been 5.

Is it my file or someone else's? There used to be multiple captures of that show - there is only one now?

Thanks for your help everyone...hopefully in the near future a better Tarzan Rocks video file will be loaded into the server. I truly cannot get enough of that show!

Sounds abaout right - if an AVI file is incomplete it will still play. There must be mmore about. I know Barnum42 was working on a multi angle one too.

I have the same problem with spaceshipearth`94_&_disneyvisionvr_hq_by_martin. File sizes are the same. I think i got this from lamervideo, but I'm not sure. Might be from Discomics actually, in stuff folder. Anyway, I get all the spaceship earth bit, but then it cuts out also. I'm thinking its not the full file or its corrupt on the server. Cuts out just as you get to the Global Neighbourhood.

He he... Hi, Andy. I`ve just been emailing someone else regarding this video. Funnily enough, its mine. I had an FTP upload error and it only partially went through. Since its an AVI you can play it as normal until the premature ending. The full Divx AVI file size should be 282mb. I need to talk to RU42 about this problem... in the meantime I`ve just started the upload again... ETA to Distro 0315 GMT (don`t you just love upload ratios on cable!) There again, I could probably just throw it down the M62 to you!

Yes, probably faster to drive it down on a CD! Are you Martin who created the video, or just the server host? Which server can I get it from now? I'd love to get the full version!

I`m the Martin who created this (and all my other) videos. Take a look at the link in my signature for the full list. SirLamer and !Dolby generally have my videos, and some of the others have some too. Its all down to who decides what they want to / can host. I`m going to attempt the upload again overnight - fingers crossed - then I`ll start uploading my DLP tour. It can take a few days for a video to be available to download; I have to let them know its available for them on a central server, then they have to download it off that server and into their machine and make it available.

I'm a huge fan!
