Question re: Disney Merch on Sale

I've heard/read in several places (including here) about the sales that WDW is running on merchandise in the parks, and I was wondering if anyone knows if you can get your DVC or AP discount on sale merchandise, in the locations where you are entitled to those discounts.

In December, I went to WOD and bought a coffee mug that was 20% off and got the AP discount on top of that 20%. I don't see why they would have changed it since than.

It's just so unusual for them to be having a sale at all, I wondered about whether they would give additional $$ off.

My dad was there last weekend and all toys were 35% plus he got the 10% with the Disney Visa card.

I know they'll let you use your AP discount with a Birthday Fun Card as well if that helps any. Love bought a monorail from WoD and we got 10% off even though we were using the freebie gift card to pay for it.
