Question on adding/taking off people while Trip is paid for...

I made half of the payment on our trip already, and plan on making the rest in the coming weeks. My question is that we have my mother-in-law coming with us. She is having difficulties getting off work for the trip. Is there anyway I can take her off by calling and not lose the $$$ we paid for her portion of the trip? Also could we add someone else to take her place....only thing is she is a child so the price is cheaper?

I have heard of people not getting money back...

Assuming you are not within 45 days, and I assume you're not if you haven't paid in full, then it's no problem to change your reservations. :)

If you've only partially paid for your package and you remove a person from the package, all money paid to the package will stay there. There will just be a new, lower amount due to pay off the package. Offhand I don't know what they do in terms of a refund if the revised package price is below the amount already paid into the reservation.

My suggestion: If there's a possiblity that your MIL won't be going, remove her from the package now. That way you're not stuck with her on the package at the 45 day mark, or possibly with extra money paid to Disney stuck in some kind of limbo. (If she's already paid money into it herself and wants it back, you'll have to work something out between yourselves)
If she then DOES decide to go (or if you decide to bring someone else), you can add her back onto the reservation. Even if you're within the 45-day timeframe, if changes to a reservation *increase* the overall price of a package (as would happen with adding someone), Disney will waive the change fee.
