I read this to my DH and he said if you have to ask then no your not.  But then he said can you say "ya'll" and "howdy" yet. Then you are. JK

I thing you can say you are. Welcome to Texas. We were both born and raised in San Antonio.:sohappy:

LOL Gotta agree with your DH.. if you're not automatically thinking yourself Texan yet... give it some time... you will.

We've got a friend of ours from NJ who's been down here for about 8 yrs now. We still tease him about being a yankee since he's never had a frito pie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about tamales?

I try to make it to Disney World about once a year. Its about an 18 hour drive from where I live (Friendswood, Just south of Houston), which isn't bad. I just got back from the Disney College Program though and its killing me being away now LOL

LOL We're in the Valley... love of tamales is a prerequisite for people moving in. :hammer: 2 Christmasses ago we didn't get our packs of tamales and it just was NOT the holiday season!

Lived in Waco all my 17 years and I can honestly say that Mexican food is only good in Texas!:king:

LOL So can I safely assume I'm not the only one who doesn't bother with San Angel?

Funny story... a friend of ours is in the military and recently got stationed to England. He's from down here and lived here all his life until enlisting. Right next to the base where he's stationed, a Mexican food place was built. The people who own it and run it... are from down here originally. Talk about a small world. That restaurant is the only way he's survived in England so far. LOL He said last night he'd be doing just fine if they built a Whataburger over there also. :p

Speaking of San Angel (and the Mexico counter service) am I the only one who just doesn't think that menu is really worth it? They don't even have enchiladas for Mickey's sakes. Or fajitas... man... lol I got into an argument with a friend of mine over fajitas awhile back. She's living in Utah originally from Indiana. She asked what you do with skirt steak (which we all know is fajita right?) I told her you make fajitas. She was like no no we don't want fajitas so I was like well you're screwed then cuz that's what you've got. She tried to tell me that fajitas was the whole entire taco not just the meat. :lookaroun

I haven't eaten at San Angel because I don't think it will be as good as our Mexican food here.

Whataburgers are good burgers. I wish they were at WDW.

LOL I knew I could pinpoint a sensible person when I saw one!!! Like I edited to that post you responded to.. there's just something wrong w/ those menus. It doesn't look like REAL mexican food to me. I live like 15 mins from the border and I admit I'm a Mexican food snob.

There's a Whataburger on exit 199 (I think) going to Orlando. DH & I are kind of leery about stopping there though. We're afraid they might just ruin it for good for us. I just can't help but not trusting a Whataburger outside Texas.

Whataburger outside of TX. I don't know if I could trust it either.

But for the fajitas it IS the meat. I love them BBQed and grilled with onions and peppers. Yum almost had them for lunch today. Now I wish I did.

LOL We were very suspicious. We had just had awful Wendy's the night before in Chipley Fl. The thought of Wendy's still turns my stomach. The McD's wasn't all that wonderful either but it wasn't stomach churning. :hurl: LOL I just don't think anyone outside of Texas realizes how important Whataburger is... and wouldn't put forth that effort ya know? I had gotten food poisoning from Whataburger once YEARS ago. I just keep thinking of that when I think of Whataburger outside the state. This Whataburger was one in town though... but I guess things happen every so often and I just had my lucky number called.

DH made fajitas last night and the night before. LOL And thank you for verifying. She's one of those people that is right about EVERYTHING so after about 20 mins of arguing with her I just gave up and said.. well I'm sure you can figure it out. You & I both know she had fajitas whether she liked it or not :hammer:

You know, I have started saying y'all. I haven't worked in 'howdy' yet, but I have found myself saying things like "how're y'all doin?" a lot. i guess i'm close to becoming an official Texan! Hooray for me! :sohappy:

LOL I wouldn't worry so much about howdy... I was born here and lived here all my life and "howdy" isn't in my usual vocabulary... occasionally it gets thrown out there but it isn't a daily thing. ;)

Not here in my house either. What I heard a couple of yrs ago was Howdy is a lost art word now. But they wanted Texans to start using it again to bring it back.

The ever elusive & proverbial "they" want a lot... I'm sure they could take a lesson from Burgess Meridith though. If you dont know what I'm talking about pm me. :lookaroun

I live in New Braunfels (where Schlitterbahn is) and have went to DisneyWorld 4 times in 4 years (and hope to go in a few months for Christmas). I always think about going to DisneyLand, and then never do.

So "ya'll" is like a Texas thing or something?? lol I've lived in Florida my whole life and everyone I know uses that.

No but people like to make fun of Texicans and act like we're the only ones that say it. The only thing I can think of that I've never heard anywhere else but Texas is "right quick" as in "I'm gonna run to the bathroom right quick."

Southlake Carroll allumnus here, for you Texas high school football fans. :)
