It is illegal to gamble in Florida. The only legal casinos in Florida must be Native-owned on tribal lands. The closest to Orlando would be the Seminole Hard Rock and Casino in Tampa. (Of course, the Seminole aren't from anywhere near Tampa but...that's another story.) It's on I-4 just outside of Tampa proper.

There are various dog and horse tracks, poker rooms and day cruise ships that go into International waters to gamble, but your best best would be the Hard Rock since it's less than an hour away from WDW and it's a full-fledged casino.

Why on Earth would you want to gamble, much less when you're on a WDW trip?

I live 20 minutes from the Tunica casinos and I have no desire to waste my money there. Of course I once worked at both Grand and Fitzgeralds, so I've seen what gambling can do to people.

Along with the dog track there is also Jai-Alai. Its fun to watch along with betting on the players....just get ready its BLUE HAIR central. If you go to the afternoon sessions

We have always wondered that too! We spend a week each August in Memphis and travel back and forth to Tunica to Fitzgeralds! Love it! Might have to add a day to our Disney itinerary and visit the one in Tampa. :)

Well let me just say this, and I mean no offense to anyone who does or does not smoke, but I went in there a few weeks ago with a friend to pick up tickets to a concert they were having and I had to go home and throw away those clothes because everyone smokes in there I mean EVERYONE! So don't wear anything that you ever plan on wearing again FYI:wave:

No offense taken - you CAN wash or dry clean your clothes to get the smoke-smell out. :wave: All of our bars are smoking in SD and I've never had to throw anything away.
