Question for Alaska Cruisers

Hello everyone!
We are leaving August 22nd for our Alaska cruise and we can't wait.
We are staying a day before and a few extra days in Vancouver afterwards. One thing I'd like to know is. For those of us that don't live in Canada, what did you do for money? Did you convert a certain portion into Canadian Dollars, just use a credit card, etc.? Please offer some opinions. Thanks.

Thank you. Actually the taxis are one of the things I was wondering about, it's good to hear they give U.S. change. I remember stopping someplace in Niagra Falls when I was young and not getting U.S. change back. Then again the exchange rate was alot different then, now it is only a few cents difference.
Thanks for the help folks!

Yep, same here. We were kinda confused at the first few places we went to with the whole chip thing they use in their cards, so if you're using a bank card, always use it as credit since the debit probably won't work.

We actually tried to pay our cabbie with a card and he asked if we just had cash LOL no problem with american money there at all.

I hope you enjoy Vancouver as much as the cruise! It was beautiful when we went and everyone was so nice. If you're staying anywhere near Granville downtown, Cafe Crepe has a ridiculous nutella/strawberry/cognac crepe :)
