Question About "Washed Out" Pictures On Splash Mountain

Just wondering, would just wearing a shirt that said Corona on it be enough to get a picture "washed out" on Splash, or "zapped" on Buzz? Just got back from a weeks' stay at WDW, and everytime we rode both rides our pictures were deleted. No one was making hand gestures, lifting their tops, etc., any input would be appreciated., thanks!

Wow, good question. Seems like pure coincindence, because if they censored every pic that included someone wearing a shirt with some advertisement on it, they'd never post any!

Yeah, that's pretty much the explanation we got. The ironic thing was, although mine was deleted, while trying to find it, the CM says, "Here are some examples of what we consider obsene gestures, would you like to see?". Apparently, at the same time, some riders had gotten away with some things that escaped big brothers eye.:hammer:

Perhaps this particular issue is only at the Magic Kingdom? It would hardly make sense to remove a Test Track picture due to a Corona shirt when they sell beer at Epcot (I would imagine they sell Corona, though I haven't been to Epcot since I turned 21, so I never checked), but since there is no alcohol in the Magic Kingdom, perhaps they view it as inappropriate there. Were you wearing a Corona shirt 4 days of your trip or did you ride Splash 4x in a row?

Splash 3 times, Buzz twice. Even the CM's agreed it'd be pretty silly if the pix got deleted just because I was wearing a beer shirt, but I guess it's like Slade said, it's all up to whoever's in the booth. That they only have like 4 seconds to scan and make a decision on what passes through.

Each attraction has a list of what is considered inappropriate in their photos. While one would assume it's pretty consistant, there may be an extra rule at Magic Kingdom attractions.

If you're concerned about a missing photo ask a merchandise cast member. They can most accurately tell you what is or isn't ok.

I used to work in splash photo on my cp and I've never heard of a photo being washed because of a beer shirt. Maybe things have gotten stricter since I left. When I was there, things that got washed were worse than that. Things like inappropriate hand gestures, inappropriate display of body parts, and anything that could be considered unsafe.

I am a bit surprised that they offered to show you examples of bad pics. We weren't even supposed to tell a guest why the photo was washed, though we did if we noticed a pattern with the same guest (like the night I was at preview and the same group rode like 3 or 4 times in an hour and the photo was washed every time).

It is true that there is only a few seconds to make a call on a photo. Sometimes that call is hard and has to be a split second decision. They do keep record of every photo that gets washed, what time it came through, the photo number and what happened. If your photo ever gets washed more than once in a day and you don't know why, then ask a cm at that location. They can usually find out what's going on.
