Question About Taxis

Wife and I are heading out the first week of December. We had thoughts of renting a car this time as we had some bad experiences last time with the bus service. To and from the parks is good, but when going to another resort (for dinner or lunch) and being redirected through Downtown Disney, well, not so good. Does anyone have any experience getting taxis to and from resorts? Will the concierge call one for you?

Never taken a taxi but would certainly be quicker than the Disney Transportation. You might want to price it up against a hire car though

Quite frequently you will find cabs waiting out front at nearly every resort and if not the front desk can call one for you.

You big mistake the first time was using DTD as a hub to go from resort to resort. The route that the buses typically take to get to DTD in the evening involves them going completely around the back sided of DTD which adds a good half an hour to the trip. The best way to go from resort to resort using Disney transportation is to go to the nearest park and from there head to the resort. For example if you are going to any of the monorail resorts you would go to MK and from there hop to monorail to get to where you are going. It will still take longer than driving directly or a cab but it will take considerably less than connecting through DTD.
