Question About Room Upgrade At The Contemporary Resort (Not Bay Lake Tower)

Me and my girl are going to be at the Contemporary Resort from Oct 17th-24th of this year. We'll be celebrating our 5 year anniversary on the 17th and paid for the Theme Park View vacation package. I've read, heard and saw what the 14th Floor Theme Park View Suites look like and was hoping to surprise my Queen with one of those HUGE rooms. I plan on doing Online Check In & I'm thinking about making an upgrade request for one of those 14th Floor suites through there, would I have even the tiniest chance of getting it? I also plan on asking when we get to the Check In Desk if I can't do it online. I don't expect it to happen and I will make sure to say "if its possible" when I make the request. But I wanted to know if they might able to accommodate the request since its our anniversary, we already paid a hefty penny for the Theme Park View package already and October is supposedly a slow season. And if they, by the magic of Disney, are able to honor the request, would they charge extra for the upgrade?

Very unlikely a free upgrade. When requesting a room ask for the highest floor and end of the resort as far from Chef Mickey as possible. The noise from that in the am can really stink on low floors above it.

You will not be able to make your request online. And although anything is possible, like @Minthorne said a free upgrade to a suite is very unlikely. There are so many people on any given day celebrating anniversaries and birthdays (that want the extra pixie dust) that it is impossible to honor every request. Make sure your anniversary is noted on your reservation and at check-in you can ask if a suite is available. Don't say you want it for free; let the CM make the offer. The CM may say it will be X dollars for the upgrade; then you can decide if you want it or not.

And just a head's up, October is no longer a slow season

I agree completely... we have only gotten a free upgrade once at Contemporary and it was because for whatever reason the room we were supposed to be in wasn't ready yet... Frankly if you already have a park view you already have a decent room I wouldn't worry about it. If you do want to try for the free upgrade then try to arrive right at the time you are supposed to be able to check in, it is the best chance that they will not have your room ready...

And I agree October isn't that slow anymore, the food and wine festival seems to have finally caught on and started bringing more people in.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I really appreciate it. To increase my chances to the tiniest degree of getting one of the 14th floor Suites, I changed my reservation to the Theme Park View Atrium Club Level in the Contemporary. And yeah, I know that the 12th Floor is one of the Club Floors too. I made sure to tell the Cast Member over the phone that it was our 5 year anniversary and even specified four rooms on the 14th Floor I wanted with two that are preferable. I'm not going to say that money is no object for me of course but I told the CM that I will pay what's necessary to get one of the great Suites if they're available. I also told her that I wanted to surprise my girl with one of the best rooms in the Resort too. If after all that, I still don't get either one of the requested rooms or even the 14th floor, its not going to ruin our vacation, I wouldn't allow it to. Anyway, now that I made the change, what do you guys think? Has my chances of getting one of the 14th floor Suites been increased at all? Should I still ask for it when we get to the Check In desk? Any tips that may be of help in getting it?

Also, to add, your upgrade, as discussed in other threads, is based on availability and when you are going is right in the middle of Food & Wine fest as well as the Halloween parties. So it's likely that things will be (if they already aren't) pretty booked up for that time of year.

Thanks polynesiangirl, anything for my Queen Nala you know? And yeah mousehockey37, I understand that the Food & Wine Festival & MNSSHP will make it more difficult to get one of the 14th Floor Suites. But Cinderella said it best "No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true" I'm not going to be grieving of course, but that last part I'ma be holding onto that until our arrival at the Check In Desk. LOL. Fingers will be crossed though.
