Question about room capacity

So, without trying to break any rules, here's my question:

I know that when you book a 1 bedroom villa through Disney, you can have 4 in a room. When you book through DVC, they allow 5. Will they allow 6? Reason I ask is my MIL now wants to go with us and I can't cancel our existing reservation since I rented points. I know they don't provide the bedding for you, but an air mattress would more than do the trick for us.

if the room is 4 only no pull out chair, then 5 thru DVC member is all that is allowed. They will not let 6 in the room. Now the rooms that do 5 with a pull out chair I just cheked and it will alow 6 if one of the 6 is an infant only.

It is your room - how are they to know that you added a sixth guest? Just use common sense when check in and do not mention a sixth guest and don't ask for a room key for the guest and don't have the sixth with you upon check-in. Bathroom supplies are your problem.

And if/when they found out you are given the option of booking another room at full rack rate or leaving property. That other person can also not be on the dining plan, go to EMH, etc.

That is the chance you take if you do this. I would not take the chance - but I do know several who do it all the time - but they don't do the extras or dining plans. To me giving up Disney is not worth the scheming.

Call me paranoid, but I'm not willing to take the chance of breaking the rules. And not to sound like a goodie two shoes, but I have no desire to break the policy. I was just wondering how lenient DVC was. If they say 5 is the limit, then that's all I'm doing.

For most One Bedroom Villas, it's a maximum of 5 guests PLUS one guest under the age of 3.

I believe the one exception to this is the Value villas at Animal Kingdom which only allow 4 plus one under age 3.
As for rooms actually SLEEPING 5 people, that varies by resort. If memory serves, Vero, Old Key West, Bay Lake, Animal Kingdom (non-value), Aulani and Grand Californian have a Murphy Bed or twin sleeper chair in the living room to actually provide a bed for the 5th guest.

All other DVCs just have a King bed plus Queen sofabed, and only sleep 4 guests. The 5th is permitted but you'll have to make your own arrangements for sleeping (air bed, sleeping bag, etc.) DVC resorts do not provide cots, rollaways, etc.

Omitting a guest from the reservation could present issues with DME, Extra Magic Hours, dining plans and soon MyMagic+.
