Question about quick service at Saratoga Springs

We are going to SS this summer, and have the free DDP.

I am thinking about which part to stay in. We want to be close to a pool, but we also want to be close to somewhere to get free refills for our refillable cups. If I request a room in the Paddocks very close to the pool, does that sound right? We can get to the pool easily, and we have two teenagers, so they can go without us if they want. We can also get free refills without walking miles! Or can we only get free refills at Artist's Palette?

We will have a car, so we are not worried about being near to bus stops.

Yes the Paddock has a drink machine for refills, so does the High Rock Springs and the Grandstand's pool (HRS is the main pool next to Artist Palette). The only thing you need to remember and be aware is all pools drink machines operate from dawn to dusk (roughly) and could close do to bad weather. Paddock has a grill area, serves breakfast lunch and dinner, you can use your DDP to get food but again, it runs roughly from dawn to dusk.

Artist Palette's machine is open earlier and MUCH later. You could request the Springs which is right near the HRS pool and Artist Palette rooms. Rooms 4101-4436 are the closest Springs building to the Carriage House. And 5101-5436 and 5501-5836 are the two Paddock buildings closest to the Paddock Pool and bus.

Thank you. I like the idea of being able to walk to the marketplace. Can we refill our cups at Congress Park or would we have to go to the main quick service restaurant?

No, there's no quick/counter-service restaurant in the Congress Park section of Saratoga. But honestly, as convenient as it is to get free refills on those mugs, The Springs or the Paddock is where you'd want to go if having quick access to refillable drinks is important. Also, if you feel like one extra walk, there's a Speedway gas station near the entrance to Disney Springs. It has a built in convenience store with prices that are way better than any shop in a WDW resort that sells groceries. Not as cheap as free, but you could probably get plenty of soft drinks or instant coffee or tea etc for a price that would make it worth your while compared to constantly walking back and forth to refill a - what is it? 8oz cups? Maybe 10? You'd fill those up and drink it down before you ever got back to your room, even if you were staying in a room at the Paddock or the Springs.

We stayed at The Paddock, and found it very convenient! The pool was great ( kids loved the slide). The food and refillable mugs were an extra plus. The bus "station" was just there as well. It was a bit of a walk over to the main complex/pool, but still not too bad. We didn't go to the main area much. We were satisfied with the location and convenience of the Paddock ( except if you like Disney Springs, then that is a walk to the boat area as well as a very long walk if you choose to do so. We walked, and it was nice. Got some good pictures).:)

Now speaking for just DDP, yes CP is very close to the Market Place. We stayed there on Father's Day Weekend just a couple of weeks ago. CP's pool does not have a drink machine but there are lots of great food options in DS.

OUR HUGE surprise was seen on our first night. We stayed in the last building of CP. Our view was of the West Side of DS. As I was taking pictures of DS at night, the STAR WARS FIREWORKS were clearly in my view above the West side parking (next to La Nouba) and STOLE THE SHOW!!!!!!!! They were awesome from our balcony:)

Sorry to add on a question. Can anyone tell me what breakfast options the Artists Pallet has for taking away that isn't cooked? We are having two days at Universal and due to the really early start, I wanted to take breakfast with us. Cant seem to find any photos anywhere online to give me an idea. Thanks

If I understand your question correctly, I think you'd be limited to fruit cups and assorted breakfast pastries, muffins and bagels.

Everything else is hot food cooked on-demand.

Thank you, thats a great help. Least it gives me an idea now.

They also have a "food store" of sorts there. You can buy a sleeve of bagels (or somthing approaching bagles) or a loaf of bread and make a quick breakfast in the room. they also have cold cerial and milk that you can buy if that is more your speed. If you are in a studio you will at least have a toaster, microwave, mini fridge, sink, and coffee maker. If you are in a 1BR or more, you will have a full kitchen. If you have a kitchen, they sell eggs, bacon, pancake mix, etc - go crazy :-)

Most of the time that is what we do. We get food in the room (Garden Grocer) and eat breakfast before heading out. It's just easier and faster for us. Plus since I get up first well before anyone else, I can eat and relax without rushing anybody to get up because I want to go eat. We are usually in a 1BR or more. If in a studio, we do the sleeve of bagles thing.
