We have tickets to MNSSHP on 10/13 and have and ADR at Kona Cafe at 5pm. So if we have a car and drive to the Poly to eat, can i leave the car at the poly - take the monorail to MK and do MNSSHP - then when its over take the monorail back to poly , hop in the car and jet? Or is this a bad idea?

yes, though others will say no, it is wrong, you will get towed, blah, blah blah, but yes, you can..:D

I don't think anyone would suggest this. An ADR at a resort is probably the ONLY valid excuse to part at a resort that wouldn't get picked apart among the members here.

We were down over Easter weekend to look for apartments. We didn't go to any of the parks but we ate at Sanaa and parked over at Kidani for dinner and a bit of walking around the resort. If you have a dinner reservation, you're more than welcome to go to the resorts.

Look at it this way: If you have to lie to the security guards about what you're doing to get into the resort, then you shouldn't be doing it. If you're perfectly honest and say you have a dinner reservation, then you're not doing anything wrong.

- drive to the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) and park
- walk to the Poly (its within walking distance of the TTC) and eat
- take monorail to MK for MNSSHP
- when done, take monorail or ferry boat back to TTC and get your car

That seems way more complicated for someone who isn't breaking any rules to begin with.

If I can just park at the poly and not deal with the TTC wouldnt that be the best option? The resort monorail wont be as busy at the end of the night compared to the express one. and besides I would have to deal with the trams, a stroller and trying to locate my car. Compared to just getting off the monorail taking an elevator and walking out to my car.

Thanks for the advise, I just didnt want it to be a big deal that I would get there around 4-430 and not leave until 11-12...

*Technically* you're only given a 3-hour parking pass for the Poly when you dine there. So after that point you *could* be towed, especially if it's very busy and the lot fills up.

In reality *will* they tow you? Probably not.

Whether you want to chance it, and whether you're ok with (technically) breaking the rules by parking beyond the 3-hour mark, is a call that only you can make.

maggiegrace1 is giving you some poor advice. Just to ignore the rules, you will run the risk of getting towed. Is it a remote possibility? Yes, but they do tow. You get a 3 hour pass to be at the resort. So if you plan on dining and being in and out of the MNSSHP in 3 hours, you will be okay. But if you exceed that time, you could have your car towed. Also - personally - I just think this is totally wrong to do. People (like my DH and I) pay to stay at a Deluxe resort. We pay to park there, we pay to be that close, and it is not right for people who don't belong parking there to abuse this.

Park at the Poly, eat dinner, and ride the monorail to the party. They will not tow your car unless you are in a fire lane or similarly restricted area. Disney is not in the business of having an irate guest making a scene in the lobby of the hotel because their car was towed. Remember, Disney considers the public visiting its parks and hotels as guests whether they're staying there or not so they try to make sure their treatment of everyone is informed by this guest notion. I'm not encouraging people to park at resorts to avoid paying for parking, however this guest is more than paying for parking by dining at the hotel.

They do not give you a 3 hour pass anymore...and I have been encouraged by cast members to park there after I dine there many times..I am sorry..I do not think it is wrong and is not taking away from a deluxe resort guest..:D

You may not think it is wrong, but when a paying deluxe resort guest can't find a parking space you are definately taking away from that guest.

I left my car in the Poly parking lot for 3 days and it didnt get towed. But there are extenuating circumstances for this:
#1 we stayed at Poly for 3 nights beforehand
#2 we went on DCL for those three days and wrote that on our parking pass they gave us going into Poly
#3 it was the middle of January so nobody was at the parks.

I'm not sure how observant they are with their passes. I have a feeling it depends on how busy/what time of year it is.

Here's what I ask myself in any situation:
"If every single person did [insert situation here], would the Guest experience still be the same as it is now?"

I say you should lie to the guard at the Grand Floridian and tell them you have a reservation at 1900 Park Fare. Ride the monorail to the Poly and eat, then ride the monorail to the MK after wards stop off at the contemporary to use the bathroom and get in a late night swim (be sure to stuff a towel in your bag on the way out) then ride back to the Grand Floridian to your car. Also don't forget to rob a few shampoo and conditioner bottles off the carts at each of the resorts while you are at it.

LOL honestly I would just park at the resort, eat then head to the park via monorail, but I can see where others find fault in it. If the lot was packed I would probably just drive to the TTC after eating.

Not that I condone it, but how many people here have honestly been unable to park at a deluxe because of this stuff?

Chances are that when this person is doing this, most guests are either at the parks in their own vehicle or using Disney transportation. I'd be willing to bet on it.

Here's how I see it:

1) If you have no other plans but to drive to a resort to use their transportation to get to a park then that is wrong.

2) If you are eating at the resort and doing some shopping then I have no problem using their transportation afterwards to get to a park.

My family often eats at O'Hana's or Kona Cafe before going to the MK and I have no plans to get back into my car after dinner and then drive elsewhere to pick up the monorail.
